Players were reportedly ‘visibly upset’ after a horror collision to Luton’s Jordan Clark halts the Championship game at West Brom.
The 27 year old Hatters’ midfielder was stretchered off after a bad-looking clash with Baggies goalkeeper Sam Johnstone who was left emotional by the ordeal.
Medical staff were quickly called to rush onto the scene as Clark lay on the floor unconscious. Play ended up being stopped for a considerable amount of time, around 10 minutes, as medics attended to the footballer.
The incident happened just five minutes into the second half at the Hawthorns with the hosts winning 2-0 at the time.
The player was eventually taken off to a warm reception from the entire ground, fans standing up in the ground applauding while more than 1,400 Luton fans showed their appreciation in the away end, heard with a chant of “There’s only one Jordan Clark.”
Luton’s official Twitter account posted updates: “A real bad collision here.
“Attempting to latch onto Lansbury’s lofted ball, Clark crashes into Johnstone and is needing attention from the medical staff.
“Praying for a quick recovery, Clicker.”

Kal Naismith’s own goal gave Valerien Ismael’s side the lead before Callum Robinson struck a second before the break.
Karlan Grant added a third for the hosts and they looked to have easily got the win with the score at 3-0.
However, Luton didn’t stop fighting and Harry Cornick pulled one back to make it 3-1 before Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu made for a nervy finish, but West Brom just about held on for a 3-2 win.
An update has since emerged from Luton Town, with the club tweeting after the game: “We can report that Jordan Clark was conscious when leaving the field and is now being assessed at a local hospital.
“All of us are hoping for a speedy recovery.”
You can win the ball but injure the player. Outfield it is always a foul. Goalkeeper? Crack on lad, do your worst. pic.twitter.com/u8Eib18cLW

Manager Nathan Jones also provided an update on Jordan Clark, who suffered a concussion after a clash with Sam Johnstone.
“He is conscious. It is a concussion injury so it will be at least seven days. He was brave, too brave for his own good, it didn’t look good but he is conscious and that is the main thing.
“The way goalkeepers are allowed to come out, someone of Jordan’s stature is already on the back foot, but it’s no foul and no blame to Sam Johnstone. it is just when keepers are allowed to come out, if a player came out like that it would be a red card, but it is just unfortunate. He was too brave for his own good and that is the boy he is.”
Wishing you all the very best, Jordan 💙

Fans gave their reaction as players were ‘visibly upset’ after the horror collision to Luton’s Jordan Clark which halts the game for around 10 minutes. Some debated on the collision while others wished the player well…
@Russltfc: Intent aside as you say any other player on the pitch that’s a red. Keepers seem to have a little more leniency
@JasonLTFC: Right knee into Clark too. Outside the box and outfield player it’s a free kick.
@lewyj90: One foot off the floor going into a sliding tackle = dangerous play and yet this is totally fine because it’s a goalkeeper. Ridiculous
@Andysbrett: Fucking hell 😳
@PJ_Jenno: Not a foul. Contact sport. Keeper got to ball first.
@gracefuller97: Jesus Christ
@normifieder: great challenge only had the ball on his mind
@OhWhenTheTown: Fuckkk
@HaTelling: Can you please inform me what s Johnstone is meant to so there hes not gonna let the ball go over him is he
@Hatter_JH: Fucking Norah
@rhjsmith1984: Speedy recovery, obviously must’ve been bad for the added on time, no-one likes to see a player leave on a stretcher!!
@LGLTFC: How the fuck can keepers get away with this
@ltfcEdh: Goal keepers get all the protection they want but when they commit a foul nobody gives a shit.
@HungryHatter: This looks horrible.
@danielchapman86: That’s horrendous. Hope he’s OK
@Dnlchzz: Wtf man
@LutonTownCanada: Absolutely clattered.
@andyhawkington: Not the first time Johnstone has come rampaging out. Hope he’s ok
@wbabrad: Not saying it’s his fault are you?
@andyhawkington: No not at all. Ball was there to be won. Both entitled to go for it, both eyes for the ball. No malice in it. Your keeper is just a commanding beast and Clark is small lol
@ltfcdan: please be alright lad
@MISTERPDW: All the best to Jordan Clark. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it looks, although presume he was knocked out.
@LutonTownFans: NJ’s interview seems to be suggesting that Jordan Clark’s situation is a concussion and not anything else. Obviously he’ll be out for a minimum of 7 days regardless.
