Players to Look Out for at the World Cup 2022

The World Cup 2022 is just around the corner. Fans of football from all over the world are getting their hands on tickets or preparing to tune into the tournament from their home. Already, bookies have set up odds and shone their light on some star players. So, in this article, we would like to take a look at a few of the footballers that are worth keeping an eye out on this year at the Qatar World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo needs no introduction. He is by far the most popular footballer playing today, whose name carries recognition even among those who are not fans of the sport. His success often leads to his teams getting excellent odds on different online betting websites, such as the ones found on Bet Station. Currently, he is dedicated to both his club career and his international career. He plays as a forward for Manchester United, and captains the Portuguese national men’s team.

Over the course of his career, he has won five Ballon d’Or awards and four golden shoes, making him one of the most successful players working today, and often considered the best. With over 1000 professional career appearances, and half-a-dozen international records, Cristiano Ronaldo is certainly one to watch out for in the 2022 World Cup.

Lionel Messi – Argentina

Lionel Messi, much like Ronaldo, needs no introduction. In terms of success and popularity, fans of these two have been debating who the better player is since both of them first debut back in the early 2000s. And for us, it certainly is impossible to say. Like Ronaldo, Messi holds quite a few records in his own right, and is currently the most decorated footballer active today, with a record of seven Ballon d’Or awards and six European Golden Shoes.

Much like his rival, Messi plays a forward and is the captain of his country’s, Argentina’s, national team. Perhaps the best scorer in the sport today, Lionel Messi holds quite a few records under his belt as well, including most international goals by a South American. At this year’s cup, Messi is expected to play with a gusto never seen before, in part because it may be his last chance at the World Cup trophy. So, certainly he is one to look out for.

Kylian Mbappe

Messi’s fellow teammate in Paris Saint-Germain is likely to turn rival in the World Cup, as Kylian Mbappe will be representing the French national men’s football team in Qatar. Mbappe may be young, but already he has made a name for himself as one of the best active players today. His exceptional speed is what sets him apart from other players. However, what truly made him renowned as one of the best are his incredible dribbling skills, and his finishing abilities.

At the last World Cup, held in Russia, Mbappe made quite the name for himself. During this time, he became the youngest French player in history to score at the World Cup, and second youngest in general, after Pele. The tournament finished with France as the winner, and Mbappe as the joint highest goal scorer during the tournament.
