Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the pitch for a toilet whilst Arsenal chased an equaliser against Brighton

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang casually left the pitch with five minutes remaining as Arsenal chased an equaliser against Brighton on Thursday night.

The Arsenal captain decided to disappear for around three minutes as he headed down the tunnel for an unknown reason.

It was revealed after the game by interim manager Freddie Ljungberg that he went for a toilet break after being asked why, but didn’t realise that he had even left the pitch.

Brighton went 1-0 up thanks to Adam Webster finding the net after 36 minutes, that was cancelled out when Alexandre Lacazette bagged an equaliser.

However, Neil Maupay put the Seagulls back in front on the 80th minute to send the away end wild and secure those important three points.

Arsenal now haven’t won since October and are currently five points above the relegation zone.

Ljungberg said following the game: “I actually didn’t even notice he went off, I just saw him come back on after he’d been off for a couple of minutes.

“But it could have been yes.

The interviewer said: “But when you’re chasing a goal, it just seems bizarre that he could not hold on for three minutes.”

Freddie replied: “Yeah, maybe you should ask him about that.

“But if you feel bad, you feel bad. There is nothing you can change”

Fans were left surprised after finding out that Aubameyang decided to make his side go down to 10 men when they needed an equaliser against Brighton – find out what they wrote on the next page.
