Philippe Clement reacts as Hugh Jackman reveals talks over buying a stake in Norwich City

Head coach Philippe Clement reacts after Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman reveals talks over buying a stake in Norwich City.

The 57 year old spoke with talkSPORT’s Emma Kirwan, talking about his love for the Canaries and his new film ‘The Death Of Robin Hood.’

When questioned if he could join fellow Hollywood stars in English football, Jackman told talkSPORT: “I’m very, very interested – and talking about it right now.

“You’re the first one to know that. There’s a little exclusive.

“Good on Ryan, you do your thing, I’m all about the Canaries.”

Back in 2011, he said: “Sometimes I make big mistakes.

“I got a letter about a year ago saying, being such a huge Norwich City fan would I like to be a celebrity investor? Like a small part-owner.

“I said, ‘I think that’s a little stretched, I’ve been to Carrow Road once, my mum took me’, so I decided not to invest.

“And since then they’re on a run, so what do I know?”

Speaking at the release of his new film’, he also said: “When I was in Australia, growing up, I had English parents who emigrated to Australia.

“We used to watch the FA Cup. It was the only thing we were allowed to stay up for, 3 o’clock in the morning. We had to go to bed first, and we were woken up to watch it.

“So I was seeing all these teams, Arsenal and all these teams, and I was like, ‘I’ve got to pick a team’.

“I said, ‘Dad, where are you from?’ He said, ‘London’. I said, ‘So I’ll go for London?’

“He goes, ‘No, there’s a bunch of teams in London’. I said, ‘Mum, where are you from?’ She went, ‘Norwich’.

“I went, ‘Is there a football team in Norwich?’ She went, ‘Yep’. I said, ‘That’s my team’.

“So it’s been slim pickings since then. We did win the Milk Cup in 1984. It’s not even called the Milk Cup anymore, but we’re on the rise.

“We’re on the up and up. I went to Carrow Road a couple of times, and I love the Canaries, and this is the year we’re going to get promoted. That’s my prediction.

“My prediction is Norwich and Wrexham are getting promoted this year.”

Philippe Clement said when asked about Jackman’s potential investment, as per The Pink Un: “It’s important that people like him can give another boost to the club.

“Those are global figures. Those are people who are followed by a lot of people all over the world.

“If they are engaged in the club, you will get more fans from all over the world, more attention.

“I heard also from the owners that he’s a really big fan of the club.

“That can only help to make the brand of Norwich more global.

“You’ve seen it with other clubs also, how much it helps to have that, and that it helps the club grow again.

“Now the club needs to find revenue in all the places possible to grow, because everybody is doing it and the world is evolving.”

Here’s what fans had to say while Philippe Clement reacts as Hugh Jackman reveals talks over buying a stake in Norwich City…

@sexyschwartau: Considering his mum still lives here and heโ€™s supported us since 7 itโ€™s not a bad thing, but when we play Wrexham Iโ€™m turning off social media for a couple days

@GeordieJordan96: Tbf he has experience in running a circus

@Camerondownes9: Imagine when we play Wrexham. God itโ€™ll be insufferable

@KelvinEHughes: ‘Let’s be having Hugh’

@JField97: Hugh Jackman’s yellow army ๐Ÿ‘€

@wolvesfancast: Wolverhampton Wolverines would be a better route for the actor.

@James003_: Wrexham v #NCFC is going to become a sky sports hyped-up shitshow ๐Ÿคฃ

@van_der_finz: All a bit pointless financially for him and probably the club but heโ€™s often talked about being a fan cos of his mum, so a decent bit of exposure for us and him

@stoptheboats83: We need all the help we can get!

@tommykerrison: Really donโ€™t get the negativity at all from this! Will put Norwich on the map a lot more world wide! Attached more interest in the club and money itโ€™s a good move #ncfc

@Ginger_Canary: First thought it was a joke as he turned down investing before, but I hope it happens. It would feel different to other Hollywood investors too, given his family connections to Norfolk and his lifelong support of the club ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š #NCFC v #WxmAFC would become very interesting too ๐Ÿ‘€

@knockemdownes: Coming soon to Netflix
