Peterborough United look to leave London Road and move to a new ground

Peterborough United could be looking to leave their London Road home (built in 1913) and the supporters are backing a move to a new stadium.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony put out a stadium poll on social media site Twitter and has since been voted over 7,700 times.

Just last month, co-owner Jason Neale published on the club’s website stating that the their current ground is “showing her age” and there are “restraints” to developing it.

The question read: “So say it costs £30million plus to refurbish three sides of an old stadium with limited options or to build a brand spanking new all purpose fan friendly modern day 15k stadium with loads of facilities and plenty of parking, but still within walking distance from city centre do you:

The options: “Patch up the old thing” “Move to the Younger model?”.

Curious Posh fans tweeted in their thoughts and questions about the potential new home.

@PeterScholes55 asked: “Safe standing?”

MacAnthony wrote: “If legally possible, then 100% behind it yes.”

@PTAlanSwann said: “Pretty obvious which one you prefer! What will press facilities be like in the new one?”

MacAnthony said: “Top notch with 300MB wi fi speed lol”

@UponThisRock__ asked: “How much does it cost for the new 15k one?”

MacAnthony tweeted: “Serious consultation happening now on both options with figures/budgets put together etc. More news on that when we have it detailed to share :)”

Lastly, @FORTUNATES0N commented: “Would the capabilities of the new stadium still include planning for concerts/gigs Darragh?”

MacAthony replied: “Even more so pal. We had to reject 3 mega 20k concerts last year by BIG acts cause of current limitations safety wise which so us lose half a mill in income and city lose 7 figures me thinks in revenue from the crowds.”

Hundreds of football fans continued to give their reaction to the chairman’s stadium poll, some stated they didn’t want a ‘soulless bowl stadium’, others just wanted to location of the new home to be key – check out what on that tweeted on the next page.
