Pete Wild gives his first words on becoming the new Fleetwood Town head coach, on a contract until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Wild expressed enthusiasm about joining the club, highlighting his intentions to build a team that reflects the hard-working spirit of Fleetwood. He emphasised the importance of teamwork and community involvement in achieving success.
This move comes after the sacking of Charlie Adam, who couldn’t turn around the team’s fortunes, leaving them in 18th place in League Two with 23 points from 19 games played.

CLUB STATEMENT:
Fleetwood Town are delighted to confirm the appointment of Pete Wild as the Club’s First-Team Head Coach.
The 40-year-old moves to Highbury Stadium following successful stints as manager at Oldham Athletic, Halifax Town and Barrow.
After agreeing terms with Town on Christmas Eve, Wild said:
“I am really excited to have the opportunity to manage such a progressive football club.
Although discussion have moved quickly, both myself and Adam (Temple) feel like there is a clear direction from everyone at the football club and we really feel we can support that journey.
We can’t wait to meet everyone and get fans, staff and players moving in a forward direction”
Town Chairman Jamie Pilley added: “We are delighted to move quickly to attract someone of Pete’s calibre to Highbury Stadium.
At this point we felt it was important to bring someone who has extensive knowledge of the division we find ourselves in – and Pete was the stand-out candidate.
I’m excited to see what he can achieve with what we think is a good squad and would like to welcome him to Fleetwood Town. “
Joining the new Head Coach will be Assistant Coach Adam Temple who will work alongside current First Team Coach Matt Lawlor and goalkeeping coach Owain Fon Williams.
Wild will be in attendance for Town’s clash with Chesterfield on Boxing Day before formally taking charge on 27th December.
Matt Lawlor, assisted by Nathan Pond and Mark Yeates will take control of the team for the Boxing Day game, while Former First Team Coach Ross Wallace has now left the club.
Welcome to Highbury Stadium, Pete!
