Pep Guardiola speaks on his run-ins with the officials and left fuming at being booked in his side’s FA Cup win against Newcastle.
Guardiola wasn’t happy with the officiating, picking up sixth yellow of the season, meaning the City gaffer will miss the next league and FA Cup games, but not the Carabao Cup Final against Arsenal.
He received a yellow card for his reaction to a challenge on Jeremy Doku. But will be happy at his side reach the quarter-finals for the eighth successive season.
Harvey Barnes opened the scoring with a curled effort on 18 minutes, but Savinho levelled just before half time, getting the final touch on Jeremy Doku’s cross, then Omar Marmoush put City ahead after the break.
Marmoush made it 3-1 with a screamer from just outside the box.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Sport: “In Leverkusen, it was a strong squad too, but we won today, so it was fine. It was a good decision and when I lose it was a bad decision.
“This is the best performance we have played in this stadium since my decade here. That is consistency and that is why I am proud.”
On John Stones: “I am happy for him for a long time he was injured, and he needs time to do his best. He was the captain today and he deserves it.”
On Savinho: “What a winger. One against one – he is so dangerous.”
Guardiola, speaking to TNT Sports: “It was so good. When we tried to make a sequence of passes we and especially Savinho and Jeremy Doku. They were so decisive. This was the best performance I have seen from us in this stadium during our time together here. Really, really good.
“We played really, really good. It was important to score in the first minute of the second half. After that until the end was really good – the defending and the midfield, in general – everyone. Happy for Omar, a fantastic second goal. To beat Newcastle you have to perform very well, especially in the FA Cup.
“Listen, it is not about penalty or no penalty. There are [refereeing] actions that is difficult for me to understand. When Jeremy [Doku] is pulled from behind, everywhere it is a foul except here. It is what it is. There will be a two-game ban. There will be holidays and the team will continue.”
"Tuesday is really now our season. It's in the hands of the next two games in the Champions League" 🗯️

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, speaking to TNT Sports: “Good start from us, really good for half an hour. Probably two things happened we couldn’t sustain our start in terms of energy but they also played really well. We just have to accept that.
“I felt we maybe ran out of gas, certainly in the second half but also towards the end of the first half. You have to say they were a very good side. We needed the ball to try and generate pressure but we couldn’t get enough of it.
“The crowd were magnificent today. They didn’t have a lot to shout about after that initial period but they stayed with us and were cheering at the end. We will need them for the Champions League.”
Howe, speaking to BBC Sport: “I think we started really well for half an hour. I thought we were excellent. We just ran out of gas. It seemed it was a difficult second half for us.
“For us, we tried to mix sides and some players played a lot of the games.”
On Man City: “Their level of performance was very high today. When you’re chasing the game, it becomes a different dynamic.
“They are so good in that build-up phase and recycling the ball around the box.”
On upcoming Champions League games against Barcelona: “We go again on Tuesday. Two massive games in our season are coming up.”
Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier, speaking to TNT Sports: “The first 30 minutes I thought we had done well. City are a top side and we have to take it on the chin today.
“City got the goal back and with the quality they have, we tried to press them but there’s no excuses today, we got beat by the better team.
“We have to focus now on Tuesday. The fans have always been with us through the ups and downs and they will be raring to go against Barcelona. It will be a massive occasion.
Man City forward Omar Marmoush, speaking to TNT Sports: “Amazing performance.
“We didn’t start so well and we conceded, but we showed that mentality and passion on the pitch, but we are happy to go to the next round.
“I am very happy to help the team with the goals, and we will keep going.
“I don’t know what the secret is, but I am happy to help the team again.”
