Paddy Kenny reveals a hilarious story about Neil Warnock and 14 year old boy during a pre-season in Cornwall a while back.
Now we all know that the veteran manager has a love for the Cornish life, having first fallen in love with the county while managing Plymouth Argyle 25 years ago.
And he loves taking the teams he managed on a trip to the south west, as he will do again with Championship outfit Huddersfield Town this summer.
In June 2023, the club confirmed his side will be heading to Cornwall and Devon, with the First Team to spend 10-15 July 2023 down there and Devon both training and taking part in three pre-season friendlies against Bodmin Town, Tavistock AFC and Liskeard Athletic. But as he gets set to face Bodmin, he will remember of a funny story which saw him play a 14 year old against the non league outfit a fair few years back…

Paddy Kenny said to the I Had Trials Once podcast: “Warnock used to take us to Cornwall all the time.
“We were playing a game. We’re all there getting changed before we go out.
“And Warnock brought this young kid in, about 14 year old, this young kid’s coming with his dad. And we were like, ‘what’s going off here? Why would he be playing?’.
“Anyway, he tells, ‘Just let you you all know lads, this is so and so and his dad so and so. He’s playing 20 minutes at end at game.’
“We were like… eh?!
“Anyway, this young kid comes on, plays 20 minutes pre-season. I think it were Bodmin we were playing.
“We found out afterwards the lad’s Dad had decorated Warnock’s house. So instead of paying him he gave his lad 20 minutes ****** game pre-season.”

Commenting on the tour, Neil Warnock said:
“This pre-season tour is one I’ve made with all of my successful sides in the past. It gets all of the lads together at a great time in a wonderful environment.
“We’ll be playing local teams, and I know supporters will always come down in numbers and have enjoyed meeting the players after games, getting their autographs and photos, and there will be plenty of opportunities for that.
“The most important thing though is that it’s a good week for me to get to know everybody again and plan for the season ahead.”
Commenting on his appointment, Neil Warnock added:
“This is now a chance for me to put something back into the club.
“After having conversations with [chief executive] Jake Edwards, it became obvious that this was going to be a difficult job for me to leave and for anybody new to come into after what we’d built at the end of last season.
“We’re quietly confident – I know what the club is all about and I have to say, the response I got after those last two games is something I’ve never experienced in my whole life.”
Edwards said: “Neil and Ronnie (Jepson, his assistant) have incredible knowledge and skill as a management team; that was clear in the job they achieved here at the end of last season. They also have an amazing connection with this club and our supporters, which is also so valuable.
“We’re so pleased Neil has agreed to stay on for another season. I know how determined he is to build on the job he’s done last season, and he offers us great experience and stability on the football side as we prepare for the prospective change of ownership.”
