Nottingham Forest were jeered by their own fans after a wasteful display in the 1-0 defeat to Midtjylland on Thursday night.
There were boos at the end of the Conference League round of 16 1st leg fixture, while Forest were the better team for much of it, it was Midtjylland keeper Elias Rafn Olafsson who put in a superb shift and substitute Guesung Cho netting late on.
Forest now have the tough task of trying to turn the scoreline around next week against a Midtjylland side that are unbeaten at home in all competitions this season.
Nottingham Forest manager VĂtor Pereira, speaking to TNT Sports:Â “It is difficult to explain. We created so many chances to score. Even if we were to draw, it would not have been fair. They had two chances, and they scored. But we had enough time and the game was there. We had the quality to win.”
On Midtjylland’s threat:Â “We did everything we could to score. We were just missing the goals. It is frustrating that we did not score. But I am happy with my players and the supporters and we will try to keep the spirits and prepare for our next games.”
On preparing players:Â “Even the rain played against us! We created good dynamics and chances to score, but the rain came and it was difficult. We will keep the spirits and go next time with the mentality to win the game.”
On next steps:Â “Now is time to rest and recover and then compete for three points against Fulham. We will be ready in three days.”

Nottingham Forest’s Omari Hutchinson, speaking to TNT Sports:Â “Very frustrating. We had a lot of chances and we didn’t put them to bed. And we got punished for it.”
On the weather:Â “I could not really see! It was very tough and they were not the greatest [conditions], but that is not an excuse. We could have punished them but we will come to next week with confidence to bring it back.”
On how the dynamics changed:Â “We had two chances early in the second half but the weather changed things. They put pressure on us and punished us.”
On being clinical:Â “We have been working on finishing in training but today was not our today. Hopefully we can put it right on Sunday and next week. We don’t lack confidence and the crowd was behind us. But they [Midtjylland] defended well so credit to them.”
On the next tie:Â “Every game is massive and we do have full belief. We are training well and the fans are sticking by us. We want to put things right.”

Here’s the social media reaction after Nottingham Forest was jeered by their own fans after a wasteful display in defeat to Midtjylland…
@jamieallan1998: Dock everyoneâs wages until they learn to give 100% for our shirt. Some of them lot absolutely fucking embarrassing. Sick to death of leaving the city ground angry
@Forest_No_22: Honestly – Just put the Danes through. I donât need a 2nd leg. I donât want a 2nd leg. This competition has been a tedious, overpriced, underwhelming distraction from what actually matters – survival in the league. Little wonder tickets got slashed. I want Saturday games again
@toddmills_1988: ÂŁ200m spent in the summer to end up with that attack. No pace, no movement, no power, no composure. Another hard watch. There have been lots.
@mistrollingpod: This was supposed to be the best season of my lifetime. Instead we’ve become spineless, feeble and have been unravelled by shite shortermism and egos. It’s pathetic. Completely disillusioned with #NFFC. Least they haven’t shown they take the fans for twats this past week…
@Jonathan__Hill: Slept on that result without comment. Morato was awful, Aina at fault for the goal and thereâs so little confidence in front of goal. Looked better with Williams on against a team who didnât attack but overall wasnât a terrible performance, just cannot score. #nffc
@TrickyRedRad: Slept on it thoughts⌠Fuck this team, cant wait to see the back of them. Fuck Edu. Fuck going to Fulham. Relegation certainties. Some bookies still offering close to 4/1, lump on. Ever been a more disappointing season. #nffc
@DaveHo1mes: Incredibly frustrating, #NFFC looked tired and got caught out in one moment with no pressure on a cross and poor marking in the middle. In isolation a game like this against stubborn opposition in bad conditions with shocking officials can happen, unfortunately the lacklustre performances have been a pattern. We looked poor again going forward but still had the chances to score, and even in a very tough environment in Denmark they might have enough to go and win the tie but itâs been a real slog tonight, and ahead of a massive game at the weekend this feels like a missed opportunity to build positive momentum. On to Fulham.
@isaacjennings80: Canât wait for the season to end #nffc
@1865ma: Been very negative recently so my optimistic takes. Even though converting chances is a problem we have scored 1 v Brighton, 2 v City, 3 v fenerbache, 1 v fenerbache, So we can score just gotta keep going and hope we get enough points to keep us up. Big games coming up #nffc
@Fin__NFFC: Thatâs 3 games in a row now Ola has cost us or almost cost us a goal via his lack of defensive work. Absolutely love the bloke but the position weâre in he needs dropping against Fulham. #NFFC
@lardlikesdogs: Positives , The interplay between MGW , Anderson, Jesus, CHO and Hutchinson is coming along nicely, The Manager is proactive with his substitutions and all round tactics. We are in need of some lady luck . We are definitely moving in the right direction. Keep the faith. #nffc
@SteBradford03: We deserve to go down on the basis that we sacked Nuno our best manager in years, to then sack the guy who got Nuno the sack. Fucking awful management. #nffc
Dreadful atmosphere at the City Ground. How has it come to this?

This would have cost me ÂŁ150 had I attended. There is being loyal and there is being stupid spending that kind of money on this team who seems to have checked out already this season. #nffc https://t.co/HpvZIV9pP7
