Northern Premier League side forced to be relegated after failing to meet ground grading criteria

It has been announced that AFC Mansfield have been forced to be relegated after failing to meet ground grading criteria.

The Northern Premier League were only promoted from the NCEL Premier Division last season and currently sit 16th in the Division One East, nine points above the relegation places.

That means 19th in the division will be safe and that there will be no knock on effect to Step 5 promotions.

THE LEAGUE STATEMENT:

“The Northern Premier League can confirm that AFC Mansfield will be relegated from the Evo-Stik League East Division at the conclusion of Season 2018/2019.

“Club officials accepted that the required ground grading criteria would not be met by the deadline of 31st March and tendered their resignation, along with a request to The Football Association to be placed at Step 5 of the National League System for Season 2019/2020.

“No further comment will be made.”

THE CLUB STATEMENT:

“The club failed to meet ground grading requirements by the 31 March deadline, and consequently have been placed into a relegation position.

“In light of these events, the club has written to the Football Association requesting to be placed at Step 5 of the National League System.
