Northampton Town report a racist social media post about players to the police after a 2-1 defeat to Rotherham United.
On Tuesday night, @ThuleanKarl14 sent a tweet in derogatory reply to the Cobblers’ full time post on Twitter, aimed at several Northampton players Jordan Willis, Nesta Guinness-Walker, Elliott List, and Kamarai Swyer. The club have issued a statement on it, which you can read below.
Northampton’s poor form continues, having lost their last three games, won none of their past seven League One matches, and remain in the relegation zone.
They had gone in front through Tom Eaves on 28 minutes, but Leeds loanee Harry Gray cancelled it out with a second-half header, then new signing Emmanuel Adegboyega gave Rotherham their first League One win since November with a goal on 84 minutes.
Losing against a team that hadn’t won in 11 league games fuckin pathetic, leave willis ,ngw, list and swyer in Rotherham useless monkeys

CLUB STATEMENT:
Northampton Town Football Club condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the racist social media post directed at some of our players after Tuesday’s game at Rotherham.
The club have reported the post to both the social media platform concerned and the police and will co-operate fully with any investigation that follows.
The club will not tolerate such unacceptable comments and fully support our players.
Northampton boss Kevin Nolan said: “Two set play goals let us down.
“At 1-0 we should have had a penalty in a critical time in the game but to lose the game off two set pieces is really poor.
“You can’t gift teams goals the way we are at the minute and we need to learn quickly.
“We deserved to be 1-0 up and we looked in control until we let them back into the game.
“It’s a really difficult one for me to take and I’m really disappointed.
“We need to get better quickly, I’m seeing it in training but I’m not seeing it when it really matters. We have to strip it right back to basics and that’s what we will be doing over the next few days before Reading.
“We have to stick together, I’ve been in these moments throughout my career, we are in a difficult moment right now and we need to snap out of it quickly.
“I believe we will get out of this but we need to show it. We’ve lost that spark right now and we need to get that back.
“I’m really angry with what has happened tonight and I feel the frustration from the supporters but the lads need them more than ever now and we need them to stick with us.”
Northampton felt they should have been awarded a penalty early in the second half when the ball seemingly hit the arm of Ar’Jany Martha, only for referee Alan Young to turn down the appeals.
He added: “The referee’s let us down again. We’re 1-0 up and everyone else can see it.
“All the fans knew it was a penalty and he didn’t at such a critical time for us in the game but the way we’ve defended those set-pieces is so poor.
“What we’ve got to do is learn from it. We’ve just said to them then, ‘you can’t give teams goals the way we’re gifting them at the minute’.
“In training they’re showing it, showing a bit of quality – but they’re not producing it on the pitch.”
Rotherham boss Matt Hamshaw said: “We’re a bit low on confidence, on a run of defeats and then all of a sudden we get a bit of a spark.
“Harry scores his first senior goal which is amazing for him and it couldn’t have gone better with Manny scoring.
“They’re two players we’ve brought in this window and they’ve made a huge impact.
“It’s just nice to win a game of football but we’ve got to build on that.
“Let’s just enjoy it tonight because it’s been rough few weeks for us all.”

@IBradders: Rotherham ST holder here, unfortunately every club has that racist neanderthal element, this “fan” needs banning from every stadium in the UK. All the best for the rest of the season & safe travels.
@GenerallyJackYT: Ban them for life, disgraceful
@Jonomarston: 2026 and this is still happening and it’s still not okay! Whatever the score; whatever the result, racism has no place!
@RodneyMarshall1: Totally unacceptable.
@EmilyRootes94: Whatever the score, there is never any excuse for this behaviour. 😔
@deadmanonleave1: Good work by the club after a crap night.
@CobblersPast: No matter what’s going on, off or on the pitch racist abuse is not tolerated! Get out of our club!
@MarkJosiah: Unbelievable that this is still happening in 2026. Yes, we’re all frustrated but bringing racism into it is totally unacceptable. Ban the idiot for life. Preferably name & shame them too!
@Nelza82: Absolutely right to call that out. Shameful whoever posted whatever was said. It’s 2026 FFS.
@TalkOfTheTeyn: No matter how bad things get on the pitch this is completely unacceptable. #ntfc
@marcwebber: Northampton Town call police after racist social media post made by fan towards own players following defeat at Rotherham. #ntfc
That account is extraordinary. Not even attempting to hide the blatant racism. Proud of it, in fact. And X simply allows it because “freedom of speech”. Fucking hell.
