Non league side have promotion confirmed with 11 games to go

Non league side Jersey Bulls have promotion confirmed with 11 games to go after spectacularly winning all 27 of their matches.

They are now finally able to celebrate in style on Saturday, though will need four more wins if they want to be crowned Combined Counties League Division One champions.

On Saturday, they beat British Airways 2-0 thanks to goals from Fraser Barlow, who headed home midway through the first half, and Zeljko Martinovic, with a late strike.

That result meant it put the Bulls 21 points clear at the top of Combined Counties Division One table, beating the previous winning run record of 26 games which was set by Withdean, who won the Premier Division of the division in the 2002-03 season.

Farnham Town drew 1-1 with Dorking Wanderers reserves on Tuesday night, meaning they they are 4 wins (or less if points are dropped) to be crowned champions.

Jersey Bulls defender Luke Campbell adds the title looks “inevitable”, he said: ” I think with the group of players we’ve got, I know we’re a talented bunch and I think when we set our stall out at the start of the season, I thought we’d always aim to be up there. Now I think the title’s probably going to be inevitable, but I always thought we’d go for it to be fair.”

The club’s competitive winning streak stretches back to the beginning of August, which was a 3-0 win against Ash United on the opening weekend of the season.

They are also hoping to complete a treble of trophies as they continue to compete in the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup and Esoteric Recordings Division One Challenge Cup.

On Tuesday 17 March Gary Freeman’s side travel to Combined Counties Premier Division leaders Ascot United in the quarter-finals of the Premier Challenge Cup.

The club will have to wait for confirmation from the Football Association about which division they will play in next season.

They could follow in the footsteps of Guernsey, in moving up to Combined Counties Premier Division, meaning they would be just one promotion away from where the Green Lions are now in the Isthmian League South East Division.

Guernsey also secured promotion in their debut season in 2011/12, however lost two and drew one game on the way to the title.
