Non league sees it’s first promotion of the season in front of a record crowd at Moss Rose, with celebrations in full swing at Macclesfield.
The Silkmen have been crowd champions of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division after beating Ashton Athletic 4-0 on Saturday.
An attendance of 4,604 is a record for the league, and Macclesfield still have three more NWCFL games remaining. Their average league crowd so far this season has been 3,282, while being a Tier 9 side.

It is a momentous day for the club, whoย were founded on the 13th of October 2020 by local businessman Robert Smethurst coming off the back of Macclesfield Town, which wasย wound-upย after aย High Court ruling on the 16th of September 2020.
The club began their first competitive season in theย North West Counties Premier Division, the fifth step of the National League system, in August 2021 and secured the title at the first attempt under manager and former footballer Danny Whitaker – with Bury AFC also plotting their own promotion bid in the NWCFL Division One North.
The club wrote via their Twitter come the full time whistle: “Once upon a time, not so long ago we were broken, staring into the abyss and without a Club to call our own.
“But now, each and every one of those who never stopped believing is a CHAMPION!
“Lets get the party started, Silkmen fans!
“FULL-TIME: Silkmen 4-0 Ashton Athletic”
