Non league player speaks out after getting a nine match football ban

A non league player speaks out after being informed of getting a nine match football ban from the Football Association earlier this month.

Bracknell Town FC of the Isthmian League South Central Division have decided to release Perry Coles with immediate effect after being notified of the suspension by Surrey FA.

They wrote a tweet, which read: “This morning we have been notified by Surrey FA that Perry Coles has been suspended from all football activity for 9 games for failing to attend hearings concerning an incident during his time at Knaphill.”

The Regulatory Commission’s reasons for the sanction can be found below.

SANCTION

  1. The Commission considered Mr. Coles previous record and The FA Guidelines on Sanction.
  2. The Commission find the use of the word Nigger extremely offensive and worthy of a sanction greater than the standard minimum of 6 matches.
  3. Taking all matters into consideration, The Commission ordered the following: a. Mr. Coles is to be suspended from all football and football activity for a period of 9 matches b. He is also fined the sum of E100
    c. Mr. Coles is to undertake a mandatory online education course within 4 months. If he fails to complete the course within that period, he is to be automatically suspended until such time as the course is completed.
  4. The Commission also ordered 8 discipline penalty points to be awarded against the Club.
  5. There is a right of appeal in accordance with FA regulations.

PERRY COLES STATEMENT:

Dear all, I am writing this statement to the world as a lot of misinformation has been spread online about me over the last 48 hours so I feel the record needs setting straight.

In February last year, I was involved in an incident where I was wrongly accused of making a frankly disgusting, and sickening racial slur.
I know there is more than enough evidence to clear my name, including countless statements from those in close proximity saying this allegation is false.

I found out 48 hours ago, through twitter, that I had been found guilty in absence. To confirm, I have not been found guilty through evidence, I was found guilty due to non appearance.

For avoidance of all doubt, I was not told about this hearing. If I was, I would have appeared to rightfully defend my name.

For avoidance of all doubt, I was not told about this hearing. If I was, I would have appeared to rightfully defend my name from such an awful allegation.

I am now attempting to communication with the FA to get this matter set straight, and to get to the bottom of why I wasn’t informed.

For clarity, I abhor racism, I absolutely deny the charge, and once a proper hearing date is set, I will be clearing my name. Perry Coles
