Non league player produces one of the worst horror tackles you’ll ever see with footage of the incident going viral over the weekend.
Epsom & Ewell’s Jaevon Dyer was very lucky to avoid a serious injury after what fans called an ‘assault’ by Wick FC’s Marshall Ball.
It came during the Southern Combination Football League Division One play-off final on Saturday afternoon, with the aggressor’s reckless studs-up tackle described as ‘cowardly’ and faces calls for a lengthy ban.

After the ball was thrown down the line, both feet were lifted off the ground when the contact was made on Dyer’s standing leg.
Dyer was clearly in pain when his teammates ran to confront Marshall Ball, who ended up being pushed down to the ground and then given a straight-red card.
Epsom & Ewell, ended up finishing second in Division One, are promoted to the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division, joining title winners Shoreham in going up.

Kinetic Academy, who watched their graduate, wrote on Twitter: “Kinetic graduate Jaevon Dyer very lucky to escape serious injury after this horrific tackle on him today playing for Epsom & Ewell.
“We’ve spoken to Jaevon and he’s ok thankfully.”
Wick FC wrote: “Marshall Ball sent off for a late tackle and Epsom lucky not to be reduced to ten men as well for piling in on him.
“To be fair Epsom did have a player sent off in the melee. The officials had a good game today 👏👏👏”
This is what social media users said as a non league player produces one of the worst horror tackles you’ll ever see…
@sartejt: Should be an ABH charge for that + 6 month ban
@Rog0109: Should be banned for life for that tackle. Glad the player wasn’t seriously injured.
@stevepollo60: Glad that the young lad is ok that was horrendous, full of intent to injure another player, needs strong action from @SussexCountyFA
@craigbromf: I know it’s drilled into you as a player to stick up for your own but if one of my team mates had just thrown in that cowards tackle, I think I’d have been wading in with the lads in blue and white. He probably thinks that makes him a hard man. It doesn’t. Horrible challenge.
@PaulFawdry: Wow, one of the worst “tackles” I have ever seen at any level, assault pure and simple…
@Treborchamp: Terrible tackle. No place for that in football. A bit surprised that not one of Dyer’s teammates checked on his condition. Seemed to be more interested in having a fight
@nashpainter19: They all went after the player that made the terrible tackle but no one stopped to check their team mate
@arsenaljosh23: Teammates clearly care about him a lot, giving him the space on the floor to recover. Fair play lads 👏👏👏
@RossMatthewGat3: Shocking tackle (potentially career ending), just pleased to hear the young guy is going to be ok. 👍 And the attitude of the player who made said tackle afterwards says it all 😡
@PhilJenkins86: 2 year ban for that surely @EnglandFootball disgraceful tackle
@mattdrew: Awful challenge. The perpetrator’s team mates and management should have word with him for that. That’s a career ender on a young player. and any player that can deliver it, should be held to account.
@Woody65596415: Glad to hear that he’s ok, horrendous tackle!!!
@caughtlight: Awful… glad to hear he is okay!
@doyleio58: Horrible tackle, total liberty
@NickEGale: Not one player bothered to go and see if he was alright whilst laying prone on the floor. Such outrage about the challenge but no concern over his health
@MR__AM1: Better be banned for loads of games that’s horrid!
@jane36london: Awful tackle.
@hosk4162: Probably the worst tackle I’ve ever seen!!
@AdrianVanAalst: Type of “challenge” that retires players
@charliepryke: Do the football community a favor and press charges.
@UnitedEssex: Should be banned for a season after that tackle or arrested as that was assault!
@supersonic1974: Disgraceful challenge – should be banned for months if not life – no place for that kind of assault on the football pitch. Glad the lad is OK
@hitchp1: Omg! Hope he is ok… shocking attempt at a tackle
@SKontheradio: Wow that’s a disgrace
Glad he’s ok. Fair to say the opposition player was not in control… pic.twitter.com/tDFzXaL8Md
