Our live stream ahead of Tuesdays Premier League match, Newcastle vs Leeds is now up, kicking off at 18.00 GMT
You can keep an eye on the commentary as it happens below, but first, we take a preview into the fixture, lineups, predictions and much more…
Newcastle have lost five games in a row in all competitions and are winless in 10 coming into this game.
The big concern for United fans is that, having exited both cup competitions in recent weeks, they are now sliding down the table and are in relegation danger.
Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Aston Villa was the fourth successive game in which the Magpies have failed to find the net, the last three of those losses coming in the league.
Bruce’s men are seven points above the dropzone, but an improving Fulham side have a game in hand to play and plenty of time to make up the deficit.
Leeds have gone down 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur and Crawley Town in the Premier League and FA Cup respectively, as well as losing 1-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.
They managed just seven shots in that loss to lowly Brighton, their fourth-lowest in a game under Marcelo Bielsa, and are the only top-flight club without a goal in 2021.
It must be remembered that Leeds are still in their first campaign back at this level since 2004, though, and Bielsa’s charges are only six points behind Chelsea in ninth place.
The two clubs last met a month ago, with Leeds thumping the Magpies 5-2 at Elland road…
*Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce did not face questions from written media ahead of the Magpies’ clash with Leeds United in a move which has drawn criticism*
Newcastle – what has changed there since you last met them? Will it be another open game?
“All teams have highs and lows. There are teams who had bigger injury problems and have had to suffer because of covid a lot more than others. And this has an influence in the succession of results and their games.”
How pleased with new Elland Road pitch? When will you be able to test it out?
“The club always makes efforts to help the team in all its necessities. We understand the problem they had to face and we value the effort that they have made for the rest of the winter we can play in a better pitch.
“We are grateful for this help. Whole I understand the difficulties I don’t see it as a reason for the difficulties we faced in our last game.”
Newcastle – any improvements in their last couple of games?
“We analyse the difficulties of the opponent but of course we worry more about our own difficulties and our difficulties are just as present as theirs.
“As in every game we try to improve ourselves as a team. We will try to be better than the opponent in all facets possible.
“We’re not focused on their bad run of form, we’re focused on our game and trying to improve our own form.
“In no way do we feel their poor run of form will help us regain ours. It’s not a rival’s poor run of form that will help us improve our form, we have to improve on our own.”
Will the mental and physical break be beneficial to the team?
“The physical performance of Leeds United is available to those who would like to look at them.
“The physical performance is judged by looking at four or five different aspects and there are reports that allow you to evaluate it. Before every game Leeds’ physical values are always superior to the opponents. And after every game Leeds’ physical performance still remains higher without exception.
“With the added thing that a lot of the teams who face Leeds play their best physical game of the season to that point and we’re also able to be better than them.
“That’s why we should listen to all the opinions because we all have the right to be listened to. There is information that is really available to everyone that allows us to verify whether the opinions being made are correct or the wrong ones.
“To verify throughout the length of the season whether it’s true that my teams run less or become tired is information that is incorrect that anyone that has an opinion over this aspect can have a look and see they are wrong. There are themes or subjects that you can have an opinion on and there are other subjects which you can measure.
“And the things you can measure you can see if they are correct or not. And that has nothing to do with the liberty and right to express yourself. The arguments that the person who makes it uses is just a fact of the person who’s writing, ignoring the facts that are there to see.”

Leeds to Win to Nil – 11/4 with FanTeam
Newcastle have been in shocking form. Their defence-first attitude is rubbing fans the wrong way with results going against them and the will to win games seemingly missing. The Magpies are winless in eight league games having scored just two in the last seven.
Four wins and five defeats in Leeds’ last nine PL games is neither here nor there. The newly-promoted side should finish in mid-table obscurity but their games have been an all or nothing affair of late. Three of those four wins were to nil and it’s hard to see Newcastle finding the back of the net on current form.
