A new contender is reportedly being ‘seriously considered’ by Leicester City as an alternative to Russell Martin.
That is according to reports in the Netherlands, with ADnl stating that Rene Hake is under consideration, having just been assistant manager of Feyenoord, who on Sunday sacked manager Robin van Persie.
Rene Hake, 54, is seriously being considered by Leicester, with ADnl claiming that he has held talks with the club, but faces serious competition from Russell Martin, who had been in advanced talks as Gary Rowett’s replacement.
René Hake was part of Rob Van Persie’s coaching staff at Feyenoord this season. With Van Persie’s departure, Hake also left the club. #lcfc #leicester https://t.co/vVGiH71cZF pic.twitter.com/LUjkskyr8x

Here’s how fans reacted with a new contender being ‘seriously considered’ by Leicester as an alternative to Russell Martin…
@1884DT: Absolute yes from me. I’ve fully wanted this appointment since the whole 10 seconds ago I first heard of him.
@Ashleypp1986: Never heard of him. Always a risk bringing in a manager who as no experience of being in the league.
@Archiecavalier1: On account of the fact he is not Russell Martin, they should be all over this guy.
@IainW198: ABM. Anyone but Martin.
@danielb28599656: Another one can’t Dudkin make his mind up????
@Huthisback: Would be a nice last minute change tbh get us all fired up and appoint someone completely different who’s interested in a move over here ahaha but I can’t get over Tops obsession with possession based football 🤣🤣😭
@DamoWarren2: This worries me more than Russell Martin tbh…I’ll give whoever gets the job a chance but your giving huge squad rebuild to an inexperienced european coach who doesnt know much about english 3rd tier and hasnt got a great record in holland 🤷 🙈
@seanfromenderby: Very happy the club is negotiating with René Hake over manager job. Unlike Russell Shartin he is highly rated as a coach n prefers front foot football which is what is needed to get out of League 1/Championship. Rare bit of good sense from the club! #lcfc
@AndrewB03365285: Martin spent a total of £110m in his tenure at Southampton in which the team scraped up through the playoffs and finished rock bottom of the premier league. Leeds spent £130m to win the league and comfortably stay up in a higher standard, inflation adjusted its the same
@BlockleyRoss: Hope Rene Hake knows plenty about league 1
Benjamin Hinton: You couldn’t make this up honestly 😅😅😅
Simon Letts: Anyone else not martin
Michael Roberts: Just employ someone for goodness sake! There is so much work that needs doing before next season begins.
Drt Taylor: I don’t think, they know who they want 🤔 Rudkin will get someone in a week before the season starts like always 😤
Carl Chapman: My main concern is that the appointment is taking far too long, is it because possible candidates are turn the job down? We haven’t got a great track record with managers over the last two or three years. With the state of the club at present, you would need to very brave or very desperate!
Gary Eastwood: Coached 372 matches won 133 – not particularly inspiring
Dave Pell: Couldn’t do any worse
Rob Bassett: Got to be worth a punt instead of Russell Martin 👍
Darren James Williams: Has to be a better option than Russell.
Alex Munro: Hire him. No idea who he is. Anyone but Martin.
Spenno: Give it to Andy King. He never got a fair go at it after the 2 red card incidents despite which the team played ok.
Keith Taylor: How many more managers are we going to be linked with need to get on and appoint someone as long as its not Russell Martin
