National League fixtures for the 2023/24 season are revealed

The much anticipated National League fixtures for the 2023/24 season are revealed and it’s got a huge amount of people talking.

Football fans across the country are counting down the days until the start of the new campaign with it to be more competitive than ever before.

Last season saw a thrilling battle for promotion play out with champions Wrexham and play-off winners Notts County both getting 100 points. So many new records were set too.

The National League’s top tier sees six new sides this season – Rochdale and Hartlepool United who were relegated out of the Football League, with playoff final runners-up Chesterfield tipped to go up along with Oldham Athletic.

The likes of AFC Fylde, Kidderminster, Ebbsfleet and Oxford City will all hope they can avoid the drop having gone up from the fifth tier.

NATIONAL LEAGUE STATEMENT

A thrilling opening day has been thrown up as fans, managers and players discover what’s in store in the Vanarama National League.

The fixtures have been released and August 5 can’t come soon enough – the countdown is well and truly on to the new season!

In a reverse in one of last season’s openers, Chesterfield host Dorking Wanderers – this time at the SMH Group Stadium as the Spireites look to banish their Promotion Final heartache.

Title hopefuls Oldham start on the road with David Unsworth’s new-look side heading to Southend.

Woking‘s season ended in play-off heartbreak and they head to newly-promoted Kidderminster Harriers.

AFC Fylde start their National League return with a trip to Maidenhead United as Solihull Moors – under new boss Andy Whing – host Eastleigh.

The two clubs coming down from the EFL can take inspiration of course from Notts County and Wrexham.

Hartlepool United meet Barnet at the Hive as Rochdale have a tricky home tie with returning Ebbsfleet United as they look for an instant return.

Boreham Wood meet GatesheadYork City go to Wealdstone and Altrincham will welcome Dagenham & Redbridge.

Oxford City make the trip to Aldershot as FC Halifax fans get the home opener they wanted – the FA Trophy winners get a visit from Bromley.

Who is going to star in the Vanarama National League South – there’s some great games scheduled for day one.

Among the August 5 games is Eastbourne Borough, now under Mark Beard, against Hampton & Richmond.

Newcomers Weston-super-Mare host fancied Havant & Waterlooville while relegated Yeovil Town look to start their comeback against Hemel Hempstead Town.

Chelmsford City welcome Farnborough while new arrivals Aveley and Truro City begin against Chippenham and Welling respectively.

Taunton Town host Braintree Town while Dover Athletic face Torquay United.

Title hopefuls Maidstone United will tackle David Noble’s St Albans City who really mean business after their Promotion Final loss last time out.

Elsewhere, Worthing welcome Tonbridge Angels while Bath City make the trip to Dartford.

The days are ticking down until the Vanarama National League North campaign kicks off.

Scunthorpe United will be fancied and they kick-off on the road at Tamworth.

Brackley Town came so close last time and it’s a visit to Andy Preece’s Chorley to begin with for new boss Gavin Cowan and his players.

Banbury United take on Spennymoor Town as Buxton meet Boston United.

Alfreton Town get down to work at South Shields while Hereford and King’s Lynn Town collide.

Newboys Bishop’s Stortford have their work cut out at fancied Chester.

Peterborough Sports and Scarborough Athletic while promoted Rushall Olympic entertain Farsley Celtic.

Blyth Spartans try to improve with the first stop a home tie with Gloucester City while Curzon Ashton take a trip to Darlington.

Elsewhere, Southport host promoted Warrington Town.

 

NATIONAL LEAGUE KEY DATES:

Key dates have been confirmed ahead of the 2023/24 Vanarama National League season.

The first important date in supporters’ diaries is fixture release day on Wednesday 5 July when all clubs announce their schedules for the coming season at 1pm.

As previously announced, opening day fixtures will take place on Saturday 5 August with the regular season ending on Saturday 20 April.

Festive fixtures will be scheduled for Saturday 23 December and Boxing Day (December 26) – clubs also have fixtures scheduled for New Year’s Day (January 1) but will be permitted to switch to Saturday 30 December if agreed by both clubs.

The Play-Off Eliminator and Semi-Final matches will take place on the same days across all three divisions as per the list below.

Wembley Stadium will host the National division Promotion Final on Saturday 4 May – Promotion Finals for the North and South division will be held the next day on Sunday 5 May.
