Mixed reaction with two managers reportedly under ‘consideration’ for vacant Norwich job

There is some mixed reaction coming out with two managers reportedly under ‘consideration’ for the vacant Norwich City job.

There is plenty of speculation regarding who will take up the role at Carrow Road, with former Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner among the latest to be linked.

The German-born coach won promotion with the Terriers back in 2017, and is said to be a target for the Canaries with the search for Dean Smith’s successor ongoing.

According to PA Sport, Nick Mashiter and the Times, Wagner is a target for the club having entered the betting markets on Wednesday and is now favourite with such bookmakers as Sky Bet.

The 51-year-old was brought in by Huddersfield by current Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber in 2015 having previously had a stunt of success at the Yorkshire outfit, guiding them up to the Premier League for the first time in 45 years.

They survived the drop the first season, before he left in January 2019 after a poor start to the season and the Terriers subsequently went on to get relegated

Wagner has since managed the likes of Bundesliga club Schalke and Swiss side Young Boys, being at the helm for 40 games of both sides and has struggled to replicate his success at Huddersfield anywhere else.

Norwich are said to be looking overseas for Smith’s replacement, largely due to the costs involved with a shortlist made up, and plenty of names are currently under consideration.

Interim boss Allan Russell took pre-match media duties on Thursday morning before leading the club into their Championship game with Reading on Friday alongside Steve Weaver.

Meanwhile, some aren’t believing another story emerging on Thursday morning as the press conference was ongoing.

FootyInsider claimed that Steve Bruce was also being looked at by Norwich.

Sources claim to have told Football Insider that early-stage talks with Bruce have begun, with the 61 year old currently unemployed after leaving West Bromwich Albion early this season.

This decision finally came after a dreadful start to the campaign at the West Midlands outfit, and the new report claims people who are aware of Steve Bruce’s situation reckon he is “very keen” on the job and would be willing to agree a short-term deal until the end of the season, that would include a guaranteed contract if he got them promotion.

Bruce is an ex-Norwich player – who left the Baggies after winning just two games from 15 at the start of the season which left them in the second tier relegation zone, before Carlos Corboran came in a guided the up to near mid-table.

Brucey also left Newcastle United winless and in the bottom three when he axed by the club’s new owners back in October 2021.

As mentioned, there was mixed reaction with two managers reportedly under ‘consideration’ for the vacant Norwich job…

@GmanGK: Poor man’s Farke. Win ratio across management career is crap. Not sure this is anything more than Webber “jobs for the boys”

@MatterzHD: Poor mans Daniel Farke

@jerrylamb3: Set a record of 16 games without a win when at Schalke. This would be a lazy Webber appointment without due diligence. Can’t see it working.

@gordo1152: That would be Webber stitch up, to me Wagner has lost his way big time, his record is not very good since leaving Huddersfield.

@ulstercanary: Question we need the local journos asking is did the U12s play dean ball? As when farke was sacked they wanted a model all throughout the club of this style! Please ask this for the fans???????

@canarynorwich: Fits the bill ,. Worked with Webber nice football back to a German blueprint,good at bringing the fans together just ask Huddersfield fans they still love him and regret he left (sounds familiar) yes from me

@aware86: I’d be well up for this

@ataripixels: Daniel Farke is a better manager than Wagner. Might as well go back in for him than appoint Wagner!

@andrewgwilt089: Don’t think he’s ideal for the job at Norwich City

@JButterfant: Webber giving it a month before we beg for Deano and Shakey back.

@andy_traynier: The German Pulis #ncfc

@dazhino: things can’t be that bad. Have you thought this through #Norwich? you would be better off with a cardboard cutout of Pep Guardiola than a real Steve Bruce.

@garrypo57435032: Honestly ask any club he has managed – You think your previous manager was bad you ain’t seen nothing yet.

@Shaney_ncfc: Please no

@liamwrose4: Feel sorry for @mrjakehumphrey he defended Newcastle fans for wanting him out because of his terrible record, when everyone was saying he was doing a good job. Only for Bruce to end up a Norwich. Buckle yourself in for a horrendous ride. Good luck Jake 🤣

@busterforever: How does are club hire him ? do they not do any reseach on his record and how he has left most clubs and what they achieve after he has gone.

@LizBeighton: This would be hilarious. They sack their manager whilst sitting in the play off position and consider appointing the has-been. I can see this ending brilliantly (just for them!).

@GThirlaway: Norwich City, if you employ this man then you deserve all that will inevitably come your way. Kiss goodbye to any promotion hopes.

@allyinnes29: Eh WHY ?????? How does he get work hes absolutely useless it is mind boggling 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 unlucky Norwich be prepared for a relegation battle !!!!!

@NoKevski: I had to check if this was Frank at first 😂
