There was a mixed reaction from viewers as Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac commentate Wrexham v Swansea on Sky Sports.
There was an alternate broadcast with Rob & Ryan over on Sky Sports Football, with normal commentary on the regular broadcast via the Main Event channel.
Some of the headlines are emerging overnight, with Luke Power of the Daily Mail writing “Sky Sports allowed Wrexham a party political broadcast on Friday: Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s commentary was self-indulgent, boastful, and tedious – and no other club would get the same privilege”
The Sun went with the headline “Fans fume at ‘nauseating’ Sky Sports coverage of Wrexham vs Swansea”
The Hollywood duo were also joined by former Wrexham player Ollie Palmer and former Wrexham stopper Ben Foster mid-way through the game.
Wrexham boosted their play-off hopes, holding on to a place in the Championship’s top six with a win over Swansea City on Friday night.
Nathan Broadhead had the hosts in front on 25 minutes, despite Swansea dominating possession for long periods only to struggle when it came to capitalising.
Wrexham doubled their lead towards the end of the second half, Callum Doyle with a header in off Liam Cullen to see Phil Parkinson’s side opened up a six-point gap over seventh-placed Southampton, who take on leaders Coventry City on Saturday.
Swansea fall to 12th place and are eight points adrift of the play-off spots with eight games left to go.
Ryan Reynolds on if Wrexham are going up:
“You have to check yourself too. We’re in the Championship. The mere fact we’re here, that in itself is worth taking stock.
“Do we want to win it all? Of course we do. We’re all competitors. we have to take stock and see this is part to the reward. I’m so proud of the boys, I can’t wait to get in that dressing room.
“For me my favourite thing about this experience is: I don’t care what your ideologies are and where you are from and identity, there’s such a feeling of togetherness.
“In every arena, a community gets to come together for something we share in common. I love looking around here, being in the fresh air, being outside in the wonderful country of Wales, being on the pitch. I don’t ever take that for granted.”

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson speaking to Sky Sports: “I think with the week we’ve had, the emotion of the Chelsea game, then getting beaten three days later (by Hull), it’s a huge win for us.
“The performance from us tonight was about character. There was a lot of resilience on display and there needed to be because Swansea are a good side.
“They like to keep the ball, sometimes they don’t do much with it, but they can make you uncomfortable.
“We always felt on the transition we could cause hurt them and the first goal is the most incisive bit of play of the whole game.”
Swansea head coach Vitor Matos speaking to Sky Sports: “It’s hard to take. We started the game well, created chances.
“Maybe the luck was not on our side a little bit with the last action. I’m proud of the boys – three games in six or seven days is just insane.
“Arriving here and putting on this performance, I’m proud of them. We’re going in the right direction.
“We still created chances to score. There’s a lot we can take from that. What we can do is improve ourselves.”
Nathan Broadhead speaking to BBC Radio Wales – “It was a massive game, every game we need to win now.
“I know they love to thread those goal to me, and I always love scoring!
“The lads are a top group of lads, they play for the shirt and everyone knows what they want and do it well.
“I love how Swansea play, I respect their manager and I know some of the players but we got the win today.
“Never count us out, we take every game to come.”

As mentioned, there was mixed reaction from viewers as Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac commentate Wrexham v Swansea on Sky Sports…
@Im_RobM: Watched this live for 5mins and they are both barely managing to string a sentence together because they are shitting themselves everytime Swansea have the ball. They have clearly immersed themselves in the English game and very much care. I don’t mind them at all. Very likeable. Reynolds just said he knows he loves the sport as much as everyone else now because he also hates it. I feel that brother.
@Johnnufc2001: They get a lot of stick but it’s all jealousy. No National League fan fooling me pretending their above having famous, rich owners
@PhilSpenc23: Tell you what, if I was a Swansea fan I’d be raging tonight.
@Rndheadedmoron: I dont mind them either man. Harmless just let them enjoy it ffs
@adpeers: Was at the game so only just seeing some of the Sky Sports coverage. Goodness me, Rob and Ryan seem to have rattled the whole of the EFL 🤯 Lovely stuff #WxmAFC
@WillB_2003: It would be easy to see this and say the game’s gone, however… They’ve given more worldwide exposure to lower league football than anyone else in recent years, at a time when clubs are constantly falling into the hands of the wrong owners
@Anthony_Hornsby: It was also really bad. They hardly strung sentences together. Prutton was magnificent holding it together, commentating on the game where possible and stirring conversation. For Rob & Ryan I think they missed their scripted lines. No real value in what was produced for them.
@PureWrecsam: Headloss in the comments, love to see it! 😂😂😂
@danielsw1997: None of the other 71 owners in the EFL would get this special treatment btw
@rushy_sport: Genuinely is a disgrace from Sky this. There’s impartiality and then there’s this. It’s utter nonsense. They should relinquish the right for the EFL
@niallb1: Or, it’s a bit of fun which attracted extra viewers to the game. I’m obviously lucky. I can turn my TV off.
@MSG1808: They put the game on two channels so you had a choice of commentary, it’s not that deep
@rushy_sport: Where was the option for Swansea centric commentary
@rushy_sport: Honestly doesn’t bother too much. I’ve no skin in the game, my club for now isn’t in the Championship, I have zero feeling either way towards Wrexham or Swansea. What I don’t like is biased coverage like this whether that be in Swansea’s favour or Wrexham’s or anyone’s
@RyanGreen2002: Tbf I’d pay big money to listen to snoop dogg commentate a Swansea match 😂
@rushy_sport: Sorry, Sky only give this option to Wrexham
