Middlesbrough hammer Oxford United with a 6-2 victory to move into 5th place in the Championship on an away day to remember.
An in-form Boro side netting six goals in an away league match for the first time in 64 years, with a hat-trick from Emmanuel Latte Lath, two goals from Finn Azaz and one from substitute Tommy Conway.
Greg Leigh and Dane Scarlett also got on the scoresheet for the struggling hosts, who have now picked up just one win in their last 11 outings, dropping down to 18th in the table and only 2 points off to relegation zone while Middlesbrough go 5th.
Oxford drop to 18th just two points above the drop zone while Boro go 5th.

Oxford United head coach Des Buckingham told BBC Radio Oxford:
“It shows you the ruthlessness of this league- they’ve had three shots on target in the second half and scored all three so they were clinical in their finish but they were the better team throughout the majority of that game.
“We were in a good game for 30-35 minutes, and I thought we deserved to go one up, and then we had a 10 minute spell where they got the penalty and then got the second quickly to put them in front and ended up getting in to half-time 3-1 up.
“It’s a harsh reality of this league, we need to quickly recoup, recover and get ready for Tuesday and we’ll certainly do that.”
Middlesbrough head coach Michael Carrick told BBC Radio Tees:
“It’s a hard place to come and the conditions made it tough – fast pitch with a lot of wind.
“I thought, especially going a goal down, we started alright and made some chances and we played some really good football.
“We know what the boys are capable of and it’s exciting – there’s no getting away from it.
“We’ve got to keep building but we’ve got two tough games coming on Wednesday and early Saturday that we need to deal with and that’s why the squad’s going to be vital.”

Here’s how fans reacted as Middlesbrough hammer Oxford with a 6-2 victory to move into 5th place on an away day to remember…
@finlayw__: Azaz and Latte are better than De Bruyne and Haaland.
@Jamstbill: 29 goals scored, 15 of which in the last 3 games. League top scorers, nuts
@shiggy1981: Never EVER forget the complete and utter simpletons who told us Azaz was shit and Carrick should be sacked. Hound them like I’m hounding
@eyupdean: 15 goals in 3 games is just fuckin absurd
@oufc_lucas: Fair play! We upped our game in the second half, fairly close, end to end game. You did just about edge it in the end though. A draw would have seemed fair. Good luck for the rest of the season.
@xTANKYOUFCx: It’s was and still going to happen again this season. Totally out played and Cummings got beat to many times near post. But on a brighter note them horrible lot down the road lost again and now even closer to going to none league.
@NRayner7: Tears in my eyes. What an away day. #Boro | #UTB
@johndonnellyjr: Bad day at the office for you lot. Chin up hope you stay up, good luck for the rest of the season.
@ThaiTeessider: YOU WHATTTTT!!! SEXY SIX BABY!!! OHHHH ENJOY YOUR SEXY WEEKEND MY BORO FAMILY BECAUSE THAT WAS THE DEFINITION OF SEXY FOOTBALL!! UP THE BORO!!! #UTB 🦁❤️🤍🙏😁
@RedlineUTB: My god I love you boro #utb
@pjeuk: “We want 7” – A month ago we were shouting “We want 1 or at least a shot on target” #Boro
@shinebritediam1: I’ll admit, when they went in front early I was worried we’d lost our momentum because of the international break, but I’m over the moon to be proved wrong. What an unreal run of 3 wins, not just winning by the odd goal either. History-making. Just need to keep it up. #Boro #UTB
@NathanielOUFC: Was always going to happen at some point. Rather it came against the team that are scoring for fun at the minute, than some team doing it out of the blue. Only positive is that we scored more than one goal in a match for the first time in nearly two months.
@Smithy_MFC84: We know how quickly things can change, but this run of form simply cannot be ignored. Huge credit must go to Carrick and his coaching team for producing a side that can score as freely as we are. We’ve got some proper talent, and it’s really starting to show. Get in #Boro!
@Smogg74:
Just got us bang in form…
Unlucky
Hope yous stay up
See yous at the Riverside… UTB
