Michael Olise has been accused of swearing at a young kid trying to get autograph after Crystal Palace win against Montpellier.
It was a day of impressive performances from individuals of the Premier League outfit on Saturday, defeating the Ligue 1 side 4-2.
After a quiet start the first chance fell to Wilfried Zaha, who had a close-range shot blocked on the line. There was no one stopping the Ivorian when he strikes low and hard from 20 yards to open the scoring.
Odsonne Edouard made it two by heading in from close range, before earning his brace by fighting his way into the box and striking past Jonas Omlin.
Palace dominated the first-half, and entered the break 3-0 up. Then immediately after the restart, Marc Guéhi made it 4-0 by heading in Eberechi Eze’s corner.
Montpellier pulled one back through Stephy Mavididi, who striked to ball low from 10 yards, before Patrick Vieira made five substitutions, playing Chris Richards for the first time and introducing Malcolm Ebiowei and Luke Plange to the Selhurst Park crowd.
Mavididi netted his second from the right of the box and the final score ended in a 4-2 win for Crystal Palace over Montpellier.
However after the game, a Crystal Palace supporter took to social media and raised some questions about player Michael Olise.
The 20 year old footballer was the only outfield player not to train at Selhurst Park on the 29th of July, though is currently doing 1-on-1 training separately, whilst recovering from the foot injury that has kept him out since May.
A Facebook user revealed he was at the game against Montpellier, though added: “After today’s attitude in the car park, who knows” before writing “He told a fan who was very young to fcuk off. He only asked him for an autograph.”
This was also backed up by some who witnessed it.
The user added: “Just hoping it was a tongue in cheek moment. But he didn’t look happy when go into a car.”
It’s hard to know what is going on in anyone’s head, but until people are made aware of any issues mentally should there be any, then this alleged incident makes the player look unprofessional, especially when young fans have paid money and taken time to watch their idols if you like during pre-season.
Olise is a popular player among the Palace fanbase, but you really have to ask why a child was allegedly fobbed off.
POST-MATCH REACTION
Speaking with Palace TV, the manager Patrick Vieira shared a little insight on three key players from the Montpellier game.
On Cheick Doucouré: “He did really well. He’s a player who still needs to grow and believe in himself even more. But you can see he’s really comfortable on the ball and switched his game quick enough for us.”
On Eberechi Eze: “It’s about the number of minutes [he plays]. He played a lot of friendly games and is in really good shape. There’s no doubt about his quality. He can create goals, he can score goals, and again on the other side – how can we help the team to defend better?
“I think today you can see he’s really focusing and concentrated on his position out of possession and he’s playing with belief and confidence.”
On Chris Richards: “It was really good to give him his first 15 minutes. He’s a solid defender who loves to defend, especially in a one-v-one situation. He’s really comfortable with the ball.
“He needs time, of course, to get used to what we are doing and how we want to play. He’s an important asset for the football club.”
