Michael Carrick issues message to disappointed and frustrated Middlesbrough supporters

Michael Carrick issues a message to disappointed and frustrated Middlesbrough supporters ahead of the game against Watford on Saturday.

Boro has been experiencing a challenging season, sitting 9th in the Championship table with fans expressing frustration over the team’s poor run of results.

Carrick acknowledges but asks for patience. He emphasised that the team is in a process of rebuilding and that there are long-term goals at play.

He highlights that despite the lack of wins, there are signs of improvement in gameplay, player development, and team cohesion.

Carrick expressed his commitment to the club and his belief in the current squad’s potential.

Some fans showing support for Carrick’s vision while others remain skeptical due to immediate results not matching expectations.

Carrick promised that the team will continue to work hard and that better times are ahead, focusing on both immediate upcoming matches and the broader strategy for future seasons.

His side have suffered three successive defeats and just two wins in 10 games Carrick understands the disappointment and frustration” of the supporters but says his side will “need the support” for what is expected to be a tough game.

He accepts, however, that Boro need to put on a performance to lift the crowd, saying per the Northern Echo: “This isn’t the end game for us”.

“I totally understand the situation. I get it, I’ve been involved in football a long time and understand what results do and things that it can create both ways,” said Boro’s boss when quizzed on the frustration of fans.

“It’s something you’ve got to accept and it’s up to us to put things into the game with energy and a performance level for the supporters to get behind us and create that support, noise and atmosphere.

“We’d obviously love them to do that. We need the support, the boys thrive off it.

“From my side of things it’s perspective. We are in a situation were we haven’t got enough points and we want more but I’ve said it before, this is not the end game for us.

“We can come through this and find the next result and whether that’s Saturday or after that, we fully believe that we can have a really strong finish to the season.

“I understand the disappointment and frustration of supporters because they want and expect results and come to watch winning teams, exciting football and goals.

“I understand that but the boys are giving everything they can in terms of effort and attitude. We need to find better ways, and I need to find better ways alongside them.

“We ask the supporters to be right behind us because the intentions are there from all of us and we care deeply about it and we are hugely motivated now more than ever to try and put this thing that we’ve got going on to the right track.

“We need the supporters with us to do that.

“We’re around each other in the league, we’ve got similar kind of aspirations for what we want to get out of this season so it’s an important game for that.

“It’s a big game. We know that. Tom (Cleverley) and his players are going through a similar situation to ourselves in terms of where they want to be and have been at periods in the season and where we find ourselves at this point. So it’s an important game for sure.

“It’s not going to decide the ultimate end of season scenario but it’s going to have a say towards it and we are totally aware of the importance of it.”

Twitter users reacted as Michael Carrick issues a message to disappointed and frustrated Middlesbrough supporters…

@FAlan9192: Blah, blah, balahhhh!

@richieshaw2611: 🥱🥱🥱

@boro_alex2: Wonder if he was asked some proper questions this time

@LDennis07: not sacked yet?

@lukeutbutb38059: Sack him

@nmw1964: Not expecting anything Saturday I’ll go and shout the team on but I’m resigned to the fact our defence will be no different to what’s happened the whole season.

@SassyUTB: Ah so he’s still here, great!

@lc1474: will listen tonight, at least i’m guaranteed a proper nights sleep then

@Jack__boro: Is he resigning?

@BoroRuss: This could be his last game, Managers & Coaches Make Football So Difficult for themselves play it the simple way and you most probable get Results make it complicated then the Results turn against You..!

@robbojv: The same shit just another day. He certainly doesn’t fill me with confidence by what he spouts out of his mouth. The boys are doing their best… God help us if that’s their best last night. We have no hope whatsoever.

@Philipw62777240: Pack your bag Michael and be on your way take Woody with you ! You came you tried and failed. Off you pop !

@symmonds_UTFB: Let me guess more crap excuses, the players are upset about the defeat but will bounce back and we have trained hard. Said the same after Sunderland the guy is clueless and unfortunately I only see an easy win for Watford and Carrick getting the sack

@_IAmNotANumber_: If it’s not “I resign” I’m just not interested.

@THEREALBORO: I’m not even interested in his drivel anymore it’s like listening to AI. Just get him gone

@andycap31: Set us up a different way so we are not as open when we lose possession. Cut down on the obsession to keep possession at all costs. There’s 2 starting points

@leemcm1976: Will turn toxic today if we lose

@Kirkysr: Definition of a lunatic. Doing the same thing again and again but expecting a different result!

@smoggiemoy: I don’t think he does understand 3 games ago he came out and said I don’t understand the moaning we’re still in the playoffs… guess what Micheal we’re not any more! Big game today need the players to stand up and fight win every second ball defend properly etc
