Mateusz Klich tells his team’s own fan to ‘f*ck off’ after Twitter criticism following the draw to Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
After being held to a point by the Saints, the Poland international got straight onto social media and amused the Whites fanbase with an X-rated reply to an irate supporter.
The hosts lead at half time through Jack Harrison’s toe-poked effort just before the half-hour mark, but James Ward-Prowse’s second-half free kick levelled matters, and the point leaves Leeds eight clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
It left Leeds shy of winning three on the bounce and it prompted some angry responses during and after the game, but Klich was having none of it, jumping to his own defence.
@loiner23 said: “@Cli5hy stop giving the fckin balla way FFS and stupid free kicks around the box it’s kids stuff FFS”
Klich replied: “Fuck off, Bob.”
Klich’s tweet has since got over 9,000 likes and due to pure embarrassment no doubt, the Leeds ‘fan’ has since deleted his account.
Leeds manager Jesse Marsch said after the game: “It was an intensive game with a lot of second balls and duels and one that we should have won,” he said.
“I feel like the clarity, tactically, what we want the game to look like, I thought we were balanced in the match and didn’t give much away.
“I did less shouting at the players during this match because they were more in control of every situation.
“Best counter-pressing game for us by far. Good in pressing moments. With the ball in build-up phases against a team that likes to press, we still find a lot of solutions.
“It’s a natural progression, but one that’s happened faster than I had hoped because of the commitment and intelligence of the group.”
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl said to the media: “I can guarantee you it’s not the last he will score,” he said.
“He’s for sure one of the best in the world in this part of the game and for us a very important player.
“I don’t need to talk about [his other qualities]. You can talk about it. Tell the people it’s more than just set-pieces.
“It’s not a coincidence that he plays nearly every minute for us. He’s physically unbelievably strong, his recovery is super because three games in a week are not a problem for him. This is a player you need to have.
“We had more chances. I think we had the better ones and we have been closer to winning this game, but in the end we have to take the point.
“It was a good step forward in such an intense atmosphere and intense game. To go away with a point here, it’s ok.”
Twitter users reacted as Mateusz Klich tells his team’s own fan to ‘f*ck off’ after Twitter criticism following the draw to Southampton on Saturday afternoon…
@miffy0811_a: Honest to god our klich this has made my season. I’ve waited soooooo long for a response like this from you lads. ππππππππππππ
@gavinparker10: Mad how that is what he took away from that game. I though Klich was one of our best players yesterday. Fair play to you for calling him out. π
@mightywrites: Klichs been superb for months now. Was dragging that team along (with a few others) towards the end of the Bielsa reign.
@Methleygiant: @Cli5hy that is an absolute class response. These people criticising any of this fantastic Leeds squad need knocking down a peg or 2. You lads have given us the best few years and youβre only human, you will make mistakes but us βrealβ fans will support you every step of the way
@CoveyCarl: I wish more players would respond like this when a “fan” @s them.
@james_evans76: Same player who busted a gut to get to the ball to play in rapha to set up our goal. Without his running we don’t get that goal.
@VileAnimals:
Had a good game Mateusz unlucky to be taken off.
Linking play well, loved the scowl when coming off. Ignore the haters and go again next weekend. Nearly time for a well earned rest for you all
@MattAllenlufc: Pure leeds is Klich πππ
@davidhen1: Get him told lad, thought you had a great match again π
@darsum82: @Cli5hy ignore pal. Not worth it. Top player. Great point yesterday. Happy with that a point closer to safety. On to Watford. This abuse of our own needs to stop. MOT
@AIILeedsArentWe: Been class lately in that new role under Marsch, keep it up.
@montyoxymoron: Concise and to the point. Bravo ππ
@lynnesimpson1: Love this Mateusz! π€£ Get him told. You had a great game. X
@RocknRichRockin: Well said Klichy, you and the lads were great today. A bit more luck in front of goal, and we’d have won. Stick at it, you and the lads are doing great, ignore the haters.
@nigelbarker1971: Twitter account deleted. Well played @Cli5hy. More players should call out all these world class managers on social media.
