Match halted as Stoke’s James McClean subjected to abusive chanting

After reading that that match at Huddersfield Town was halted as Stoke City’s James McClean was subjected to abusive chanting, fans gave a mixed reaction on it…

@John04407982: I’m sure the comments to this are going to be thoughtful and civilised

@Matthew210387: Shameful yet unsurprising some of the comments here, same folk outraged at England’s players treatment in Bulgaria will now be aiming rhetoric towards James ‘coz he’s Irish’. About time this was dealt with in the same way as any other racism!

@alanw67: New Year, Same old English fans

@PGellaitry: Standard anti irish chanting that goes unnoticed

@kingcreed23: it’s a crime to be Irish, up the ra

@martycorden: Only took them 5 or 6 years to do something. Scumbags. All because he doesnt wear a poppy. The amount of work he does for charity and his area in derry is brilliant #jamesmcclean #irishandproud

@FtWiggles: As if the result isn’t embarrassing enough. Not a good day to be a terrier.

@The_Garns: BuT hE sHOuld bE WeaRIng A POppY

His stance on remembrance day and the poppy is appalling, he hates everything British but is happy to earn his living here…..horrible excuse of a human being

Better not to have a go at anindividual player but the chanting was anti IRA not anti Irish.
