Mark Robins sends message to ‘one or two’ fans who took issue with him after Preston defeat

Mark Robins sends message to ‘one or two’ Coventry fans who took issue with him after his side’s defeat away at Preston on Saturday.

Having seen the video taken from the away end, a lot of fans on social media have showed support towards the manager.

The Sky Blues boss made his way over to his travelling fans, only to receive calls of “sort it out” as well as some other choice language which can be heard in the clip and article below.

Coventry fans make their feelings known as Mark Robins goes over to them after defeat to Preston

It wasn’t just him, as can be seen in the article above, players were also part of the unsavoury scenes.

Robins said, per Coventry Telegraph: “At the end there you could see the bewilderment on the faces of the players. They can’t handle it, they can’t handle the criticism, so people have got to stick behind them.”

“There were one or two in the crowd there shouting on. Fine, no problem. Shout on all you want but support your team, support your players.

When he was told about the majority singing him name afterwards: “A lot were brilliant but it’s like I said before, if there are 25 posts (on social media) and one bad one, people pick out the bad one and that’s all they remember. That’s what happens with young people and people ought to be mindful of that.

“However angry they are, it’s all right being angry but we have got to try to put things right and do it in a positive way that you are not crucifying people and putting them on the back foot so that they have a further distance to come back from. It’s not a simple job and some of them should remember that.

“We have got to keep going and plugging away and if we continue to do the right things and learn from the mistakes, things will turn around. It’s just these stages when we have lost the amount of games that we have, or not picked up the points that we expect or feel that we deserve, it doesn’t make any difference now, of course. We just have to make sure we put the performances in that are going to determine that we turn round this negativity and form.”

Twitter users continued giving their reaction as Mark Robins sends a message to ‘one or two’ fans who took issue with him after defeat to Preston…

@rastamouse1987: If you are not doing your job properly you invite criticism, that’s life. These players are paid a fortune, and they are massively underperforming therefore fans are voicing their frustration. Are we just supposed to reward mediocrity, lack of effort and lack of desire?

@MarkLancashire: Jesus christ, the players can’t handle criticism! I love Robins & I’m fully behind him but what a bizarre thing to say. Things are clearly not right on & off the pitch. Onto Tuesday night & fingers crossed #PUSB

@colskiccfc: Fans are spending thousands travelling all over the country to watch them and they can’t take any criticism? Not a set of bollox between them this season. Give us your money, watch us lose every week but keep smiling about it. Massive drop in season tickets coming next year #pusb

@ccfcsince97: All well and good when things are going well loving the fans but can’t handle criticism when it’s not. Look at Brennan Johnson was getting absolute dogs abuse online (not acceptable) comes off social media then scores in 7 straight games that shows the critics 💪🏻

@ccfcfan: You can see the presssire getting to MR with comments like this, whilst the scenes yesterday were not great to see surely the players have to act like men, take it on the chin and step up to fight for the shirt? Simple as that #pusb

@BEN0L3ARY: Unfortunately our fanbase is full of mongs. It’s all the bandwagon fans that have hopped on due to previous success. This time last year we were 1 point worse off. He will turn this around.

@JakeRuss1000: Entitled fans calling for his head tbh. He pretty much single handedly got us where we are today, he deserves until Xmas, 100% at least. But I feel, with Doug King being a “businessman” he might not be happy with how it’s going

@willkells2: Unfortunately we have a large proportion of fucking idiots in our fan base.

@CovIam: Not so sure anymore. He has done a fantastic job under very difficult circumstances, but in the here and now, with a better hand to play, something isn’t working. Results speak for themselves.

@davidcollinscv4: Am I worried? Absolutely. Can I see how it changes? No. The only thing I know is, Mark Robins is still the right man for the job and if King sacks him he’s a complete and utter wanker and he’ll lose a lot of the fan base. #PUSB #SkyBlues

@PuneetVatish: People have the right to be frustrated but DON NOT FORGET WHAT THIS MAN HAS DONE! We have many young players. Yes they are paid to play but confidence can be shattered no matter what income you get. Stick behind them and they will come good. #PUSB

@michaelrenwick_: I’m sorry but the fact the players can’t handle criticism shows everything that’s wrong with us right now. Now even if you think you should be having a go at players or not. They need to be able to handle it. Part and parcel of the job IMO. #PUSB #SBA

@psb_group: He’s spot on here. As for fans that say ‘ yeah but we pay our money so we are entitled to give them stick’ 😴😴 When players come over to apologise and ask you to stick with them you don’t then tell them they are shit and to f*** off to there face. That’s not support #PUSB

@tagz96CCFC: See this does my heading too. Not being funny the players get paid a decent amount of money and we spend our hard earned money watching them. If they seriously can’t handle the criticism they are rightfully getting then maybe they need to have a think about what it means #pusb

@MichaelCox1991: Said it many a time, I’ll say it again… I fucking hate Preston. See you again next year. Mark Robins, we love you #PUSB

@Gurnery_: Mark Robins taking Bassette off has murdered us. Another shit sub by him, happens most games. Cheers Mark. Fucking hell. #pusb
