Mark Goldbridge with hilarious analogy as Nottingham Forest net late winner against Man Utd

Mark Goldbridge has come up with another hilarious analogy as Nottingham Forest net a late winner against Man Utd on on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest claim back-to-back Premier League wins under new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, Man Utd were offered route back into game by Matt Turner as Marcus Rashford cancelled out Nicolas Dominguez’s opener, only for Morgan Gibbs-White to snatch all three points and put more pressure on Erik ten Hag.

Forest have now won back-to-back games under new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, moving them five points clear of the relegation zone. Man Utd, meanwhile, are winless in five games on the road and remain nine points off fourth.

Goldbridge can be heard saying in reaction to the late winner: “It stretched. Oh, not again. Oh, for fuck’s sake, man. No. What a goal. What a goal to concede. How the fuck have we done that?

“They’ve just bloody done the same thing again. There’s no one marking on the edge of the box again in. Where’s the midfield? They’ve ran off like a fucking nonce who has left the computer at PC World!

“They’ve disappeared, they’ve disappeared. Where are they? Where are they? Where’s the midfield again? I can’t believe it.”

Player ratings (as per Sky Sports)

Nottingham Forest: Turner (4), Montiel (7), Niakhate (6), Murillo (6), Aina (6), Danilo (7), Yates (7), Gibbs-White (8), Dominguez (8), Elanga (7), Wood (6).

Subs: Williams (6), Hudson-Odoi (6), Mangala (N/A), Toffolo, (N/A), Boly (N/A).

Man Utd: Onana (5), Wan-Bissaka (5), Varane (5), Evans (5), Dalot (6), Mainoo (5), Eriksen (5), Fernandes (5), Antony (5), Rashford (6), Garnacho (5).

Subs: McTominay (5), Amad (5), Regulion (N/A).

Player of the match: Morgan Gibbs-White.

Ten Hag said as per manutd.com: “It’s clear the result is very disappointing, I’m also disappointed by the performance before half-time. We should have invested more in such moments. We created less before half-time and we should invest more there, by quicker play and by movements. In the final third, it was not good enough, and we did not invest enough to create chances.

“”So the first-half performance was not okay but the second half was better. In bad moments, we conceded the goals. In that moment, the game was ours and we went for 2-1, only to concede on the counter. Then we tried and had chances, as well at the end of the game, at the last whistle, with Christian Eriksen. So we had our moments but it wasn’t good enough to win it. We fought back and went for the win but, on the counter attack, we got hammered. That’s the explanation of this defeat.

“”When you concede two goals, as a team, you have to defend better and read the game in that moment. Yeah but it’s not our biggest worry, that is making and scoring goals. I’m happy we scored one and we created our chances in the second half, by some good football moments. I’m pleased with that but, of course, we have to win.

“In the second half, they [the attackers] were in the match. I thought Amad Diallo came in really good, Alejandro Garnacho played a very good game, I think. How he fought for that all the time and prepared the goal, a good goal by Marcus Rashford.

“”We haven’t played with, in a row, the same team. Today, again, we had to change as we lost Rasmus Hojlund. Every time, we have to swap our team and that doesn’t help support the routines in the team, therefore it’s also explainable as to why you are so inconsistent. We had also nine different partnerships in the back but I think to blame everything doesn’t matter to the fans. They don’t want to hear this. They want to have us winning and that is what we have to serve them.

“Firstly, players are returning. I think we can line up a stronger team. We will also have a stronger bench and then you have your opportunities to change them. So I’m sure we will be stronger in the new year. We are on the same boat, also the players are not happy with this but we have to turn the corner and do better. It’s because of the injuries and with also some issues but mainly the injuries hold us back in the progress. We have to turn that around and what is hopeful, in January,  our levels can be higher. We know the reasons why it’s not working. I’m just explaining no team can deal with so many issues and injuries, that we have had. We should still have done better and we have depth in the squad but, when you have so many injuries, also the depth is not enough.

“The ranking doesn’t lie. We have to make our performances consistent so we have to do better and have to invest from the first minute. But I know the reasons and it makes no sense to get frustrated. I have to work on my team and that is what we are doing day by day.”

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo told Sky Sports: “Let’s celebrate. Enjoy the moment because it’s well deserved.

“I think it was a good performance. We started well, we controlled well and defended compact. We had good spells in possession. In the second half we went for it and created some combinations. The first goal is very nice. Knowing to achieve that space you have to combine. The composure of the finish too, it was a beautiful goal.

“I didn’t do anything, honestly. What we are trying to do is to create an idea. The talent is there so it’s the confidence to play. It’s our responsibility in how we defend. But they have to believe in the idea. The spaces was there and it’s a credit to the players because we are only here for 11 days and they are the ones really working very hard.

“It’s a bad pass [from Matt Turner] because I think the situation is controlled but that’s what we want – to believe in the idea to try to play. The only way you can find space is to play, to combine and have the confidence to play the ball. That is the only way we will create.

“We had Morgan Gibbs-White when he was 16 but now he is a different man and the credit must go to Steve [Cooper] because I find a different player. He is mature. What we want from him is to be this guy we can rely on and to give him the ball because he is so talented.”
