Man City fans respond with a chant as Red Star supporters took to wave money at them during Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Red Star, aka Crvena Zvezda, fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the competition’s current holders Manchester City in the first game of this year’s Champions League last night, despite making a very good impression at the Etihad.
Red Star went ahead at the end of the first half through a goal scored by Osman Bukari, but then there was a big and expected comeback by their opponents.
The game did however see fans provide their own entertainment in the stands, with Red Star fans who made quite the noise inside the ground for much of the game, attracted attention at one point when they started waving banknotes at the home fans. “Hate Manchester” could be heard for 10 minutes straight.
To which Man City fans shouted in return… “We’ll buy your club, we’ll burn it down” as can be seen below…

Osman Bukari gave the visitors a shock lead but the holders were too strong in second half with Rodri completing comeback win.

Subs: Olayinka (6), Krasso (6), Kangwa (n/a), Lucic (n/a), Degenek (n/a).
Player of the match: Julian Alvarez.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to TNT Sports: “The last two games I didn’t know how many chances we missed.”We played really really good but we were not able to score goals. We were consistent and in the end we won the game.”
On not scoring after 22 shots in the first half: “Having 22 shots on goal means you are playing really good. It has to be the responsibility of the people in front to have to score the goals. If we scored two goals early in the beginning it would’ve been completely different.”We played like West Ham another fantastic game. We missed chances but we were able to create these many sorts of chances and we will win the games.”
On his half-time team talk: “I said ‘guys, we cannot say we are playing bad. Forget the result, we are able to come back so go for it and be more calm’. We did it.”
On if Julian Alvarez is one of the first names on the team sheet: “He deserves it, every single game he is working, scoring goals, making assists. He deserves it.”
On Bernardo Silva’s injury: “I don’t know what he has. I didn’t talk with the doctor. Hopefully it is not bad.”
Manchester City captain Kyle Walker speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: “I think it was always going to be a difficult game for me. Not for the quality of the team and that is no disrespect to them because I think they are a good team and have caused a lot of threat to us on the transitions.
“But spending a lot of energy at West Ham and then coming here and trying to turn it around a couple of days later, that’s the schedule that we’re in now. We need to get the rhythm and the lads need to make sure they are fully rested and that we are ready every three or four days come the end of the season.”
On Rodri: “He’s fantastic, he steps up on big occasions and scores big goals as he did in the Champions League. I feel he is bringing that to his game now which is probably not needed because he is to control the possession and quicken the tempo when we need it, but when he can chip in with goals we’re not going to say no to that and he’s coming up in the right areas at the right time.”
