Macclesfield sign ex-Stockport, Lincoln, Grimsby, Chesterfield, Shrewsbury, Ipswich, Tranmere player

Macclesfield sign ex-Stockport, Lincoln, Grimsby, Chesterfield, Shrewsbury, Ipswich, Tranmere player Jon Nolan having after being released.

The 31-year-old has made 340 appearances since 2011, half of his career spent in the English Football League.

Nolan joins the club after featuring in their pre-season campaign, as they prepare for life in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

A 3–1 win against Trafford on the 1st of April 2023 saw the club crowned champions and achieve back-to-back promotions, as the club look to try get themselves by up the league.

He becomes the Silkmen’s sixth summer signing and is expected to be his first appearance against Telford.

CLUB STATEMENT:

The Silkmen are delighted to have agreed terms starting from 1st of August with former Shrewsbury Town, Ipswich Town & Tranmere Rovers midfielder Jon Nolan!

The 31 year-old caught the eye amidst a lengthy spell in the football league, featuring regularly for all three of the above Clubs, and totting up almost 150 appearances across England’s top four divisions.

The midfield maestro has impressed in Macclesfield’s two most recent pre-season fixtures, featuring heavily in each one on trial, prior to agreeing a season-long deal.

Jon is the Silkmen’s sixth summer signing, slotting immediately in to contention for a place in the starting XI.

Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to wish Jon every success during his spell at the Club.

Nolan will make his first official appearance for the Club in Saturday’s visit to AFC Telford.
