Luton fans taunt Wigan boss Kolo Toure with amusing song as home fans boo own side off

Luton Town fans take to taunt Wigan Athletic boss Kolo Toure with an amusing song and dance as home fans boo their own side off.

Kolo Toure still looks for his first win as Wigan manager after the Championship‘s bottom team suffered a defeat at home to Luton.

The Latics were behind when Harry Cornick captured Steven Caulker on the edge his box before firing past Ben Amos.

Wigan’s performance improved throughout the second half. They thought they had equalised at 25 minutes, but Ashley Fletcher’s header proved to be offside.

Luton scored their second goal eight minutes into the second period when Elijah Adebayo completed a flowing move to score his third goal in three games.

This was Luton’s second win against Toure’s team in five days. They beat them three days earlier in an FA Cup replay replay. Adebayo scored a 98th minute winner.

Manager Rob Edwards praised his side for a ‘good response’ with two victories against Wigan Athletic in the space of four days.

“It has been very good, the boss reflected. “Really good response after losing a week ago today after being two-nil up. It did hurt us so it has been a really good response.

“The first goal in any game is really key. The second goal then if you get it makes it a little bit more comfortable. I never felt fully comfortable because Wigan put us under a lot of pressure, it was difficult to defend the long balls and up against a couple of big strikers. They’re a big threat but I was delighted with the timings of the goals, thought they were really well-worked goals as well.”

On Cornick: “Delighted for him. He’s been brilliant, a really good assist as well for the second goal so his performance was top today.

“Great counter-attack,” Edwards continued on the second goal. “We talked about speeding the game up and it’s hard to defend against that. it was the perfect weight of pass into his path and you just knew that because the pass was right from Corns, it made the finish easier and Eli took it really well.”

It was the fourth successive away win in all competitions and the 40-year-old was delighted he and the team could give over 1,000 Hatters something to shout about.

“We want to be as difficult to play against at home and I think we are. It’s terrific, it shows we can come to difficult places and not only compete but win. It’s great for over 1,000 travelling fans today to see us get the three points so they will be going home happy and we’re delighted they were here today supporting us.”

“It was tough,” Kolo Toure said via Latics TV.

“I thought in the first 20 minutes, they put us under pressure and we couldn’t find our rhythm on the ball. Unfortunately, we gave away another cheap goal, and when you concede so early in a game, it puts you straight on the back foot.

“We reacted well and played better for 25 minutes until the end of the first half. You could see we were putting them under pressure, and we scored a goal which was disallowed.

“We came back again in the second half and put them under pressure, and from nothing again, they scored the second goal.

“In both boxes, we need to make sure we are ruthless, attacking-wise as well as defensively. We need to make sure we don’t give away cheap goals.

“We need to change and be proactive. We can’t wait to concede until we start playing. We have two weeks to work in training to make sure we create some connections between the players.

“We just need to put our heads down and keep working hard on those details we need to fix.”

This is what fans said as Luton fans taunt Wigan boss Kolo Toure with the amusing song as home fans boo their own side off…

@jamescwy: Well done on yr win today – good team tbf. However the racist chants against McClean bang out of order. Also calling Wigan a shithole compared to your shithole of a ground in a 3rd world ghetto of a neighbourhood which i saw earlier in the season – really ! 😂

@adamcmb_: The boos from the home end 💉 💉💉

@KolosBurner: Weekly occurrence

@AntNorthgraves: We did this earlier this month. Good banter

@AidanCampbell_: He needs to go. We’re a laughing stock on and off the pitch.

@Chris__Hart2001: 5 games on the trot now with the opposition singing it, we’ve not even had chance to sing it ourselves because we’re that bad 😂

@ljames2021: Everyones taking the piss out of them and its an amazing sight

@danp91: Every team has done this since he’s come in and shown how tactically inept he is

@Alantennyson4: Love it. COYH

@WAFCRob: Toure is a rotten manager. The squad aren’t good enough either but he’s actively making us worse with each passing game

@joehay_: They must have heard this every home game since we sang it last month. Brutal.
