Luis Enrique explains why he pushed Joao Pedro in a bust-up after Chelsea win the 2025 Club World Cup against PSG.
Joao Pedro, who scored the third goal in a 3-0 win, said that Paris Saint-Germain “lost their heads” after being involved in a post-match scuffle with PSG players Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, and manager Luis Enrique.
It also came after PSG’s Joao Neves was shown an 85th minute red card for pulling the hair of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.

“I don’t need to talk about them,” Joao Pedro said. “Everyone wants to win the game and, in the end, I think they lost their heads.
“But this is football. This has happened. Now we need to enjoy it because we won the tournament, that’s it.
“I don’t want to talk too much about them because you know how it works. Football is this.”
Enrique said to reporters: “I have no problem expressing my feelings at the end of the game in a high level of pressure. It’s very stressful for all of us. It is going to be impossible to avoid that.
“Everybody was involved. It was not what was best and the end result of the pressure of the match.
“I have seen (Chelsea manager Enzo) Maresca. I saw he had pushed others and we had to separate all the players and I do not know where that pressure came from.
“But this is a situation we must all avoid, that goes without saying. My intention was to separate the footballers so the situation didn’t become worse.”
He added: “We are not losers, there are no losers. We are the runners-up. A loser is somebody who gives up. In this high level of sport there are no losers whatsoever.”
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said: “After the final whistle I approached Luis to talk to him and I saw that something was going on but I don’t know what happened really.”

Enzo Maresca’s side produced a 3-0 win at the MetLife Stadium with Cole Palmer scoring twice, then set up the third goal for new signing Joao Pedro.
Chelsea’s win, watched by 81,118 fans including US President Donald Trump and Fifa president Gianni Infantino, earned them approximately £90m.
