Liverpool legend John Arne Riise and his daughter in hospital after being involved in a car crash which took place in Norway.
Police found the car lying on the side of the road at around 2am, with the 39 year old former Premier League footballer was understood to be driving his daughter home to Alesund from Tonsberg at the time.
The accident occurred in Lerstad, around five miles east of central Alesund and both he and his daughter were understood to be shaken by the incident, but in good physical condition.
Despite Riise and daughter Ariana not suffering major injuries, and have since been released from hospital, their car is believed to have been written off.
The police are investigating the incident, but nothing criminal is believed to have occurred and it’s understood that the ex-Norway international was forced to swerve.
The car the pair were travelling in crashed into the railings at the side of the road. Both Riise and Ariana were conscious following the collision.
Riise is currently based in Norway with his wife, Louise Angelica, are he finished his playing career in 2017.
He spent seven seasons at Anfield, in which he won many honours such as the FA Cup, League Cup, Super Cup (twice), Community Shield (twice) and most notably the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League, before moving to Roma in 2008 and then followed that up with a move to Fulham in 2014.
In more recent years, he has been working hard on taking the next step on the career ladder, where he’s interested in taking up coaching at a high level.
He confirmed on social media back in December that he had obtained his Uefa B License coaching qualification.
On 4 January 2019, he joined Maltese club Birkirkara as a sports director but resigned after less than three months due to personal reasons.
