A Liverpool statement said: “The club will follow established protocols in terms of gathering the relevant information.
“While that process takes place we will be making no further comment.”
The Premier League leaders came out victorious, winning 1-0 thanks to Sadio Mane’s goal, however Wolves had a goal controversially ruled out for offside.
Jonny was adjudged to be offside when Wolves scored a first-half equaliser. Pedro Neto put the ball into the back of the net just before half time.
If Jonny is found to be guilty of using over-zealous force against a ball boy, he could face further disciplinary action from the Football Association if it was mentioned in the referee’s report.
It is understood Wolves are aware of the alleged incident but are awaiting further feedback from Liverpool.
