Leyton Orient confirm sacking of manager after just 29 days in charge

Leyton Orient have sacked their first team manager Carl Fletcher after just 29 days in charge, it has been revealed.

Sky Sports reported Pete O’Rourke first announced the news on social media at just after 2pm, before Orient gave a statement on his departure at 3:15pm.

Fletcher was appointed at Brisbane Road on the 16th of October, replacing Ross Embleton who reverted back to being an assistant head coach, after he was caretaker following the sad death of Justin Edinburgh.

In Carl’s very short stint at the club, his side saw them lose 4-0 against Grimsby, lose 4-0 at former club Plymouth, draw 1-1 with Carlisle, lost 1-0 to Morecambe and lost 2-1 against Maldon & Tiptree in the FA Cup.

The club currently sit 16th in the League Table, a position higher than before his was appointed.

He is a former Plymouth Argyle manager who was employed by Premier League club Bournemouth as their loan manager.

He has also been a manager of the Bournemouth under-23 side and featured for the south coast side as a player along with spells at West Ham, Watford, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Plymouth and Barnet.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Chairman, Nigel Travis, said, “It’s unfortunate for the Club that we have parted company with Carl after such a short time, particularly as we are a club that tries to preserve stability.

“However, we felt this was in the best interests of all parties and we thank him for his hard work and wish him every success in the future.”

Ross Embleton, Danny Webb and Jobi McAnuff will take control of first-team affairs in the meantime, as they did for an interim period at the beginning of the season.
