Leicester fans vent anger towards their own players after defeat at Plymouth

Leicester fans took to vent anger towards their own players after defeat at Plymouth comes as another blow to their promotion hopes.

Mustapha Bundu’s strike on 21 minutes was the difference at Home Park, and while the home fans partied into the night in what was a massive win for them, the away end weren’t happy with another poor performance.

One point is all that separates the Championship top three sides ahead of Saturday’s fixtures, with Enzo Maresca’s side picking up a second away defeat in the space of four days having lost 1-0 at Millwall on Tuesday in similar circumstances.

Leicester boss Enzo Maresca said: “It is very disappointing for sure because we lost the game. The problem is that we didn’t take our chances, we didn’t score.

“In the first half, we just conceded one transition and we conceded a goal. [In the] second half I don’t remember any chances for them and overall we had four or five chances.

“The performance for me was good. We create many chances. The problem is not the performance. But in this moment, hopefully we can reach our target.

“In this moment it is what it is,” he added. “The good thing is that it is still in our hands. We have four games to go: three of them at home with our fans in behind. But it has been a tough week.

“We can completely understand them (the fans) because we lost the game. The only thing is that now it is important to be focused on our final games and then we see.

“This is the reason why now [having] the entire week is good because we can also work mentally and try to go again in the next two games.”

“They were incredible,” said Director of Football Neil Dewsnip. “Absolutely incredible from the first minute to the last.

“They sang non-stop. The players would know that, recognise that. When one or two of the lads were getting tired, they would run just a bit further. It was a massive contribution. We thank them.”

“It was reminiscent of last season,” added first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell. “The place was rocking from the first minute. The players responded to that by giving everything they’ve got. The supporters give everything they’ve got and we’ve come away with three points. It doesn’t get much better tonight, does it?”

“The longer that you can hold on to that lead gives you more and more and more hope, more and more determination to keep going, so it was vital for us,” said Dewsnip.

“We knew that we would need all the squad, not just 11. Quite a few of them have been involved, if not all of them, I guess. We’re delighted, not just for 11 players who’ve been out there at the end, but for everyone who’s contributed in the last three games.”

First team coach Kevin Nancekivell added: “It’s what Plymouth Argyle is all about. We thrive on that. That’s what we’ve got in our favour. We’ve got that in abundance. We’ve got that in the terraces. We’ve got that in the boardroom. We’ve got that everywhere in the football club – spirit and belief.

“And the players have got that in abundance too. As long as we all show that passion and that spirit, we’ll be fine.”

“We’re not there yet,” he said. “We’ve still got a lot of work to do. We’ve got three big games coming up, and that just gives us an extra belief, a little bit more zest and a bit more confidence to go into the next three.

“We’ve real belief that we can get this job done, repay the supporters and everybody who’s backed us all the way.”

“We can not relax,” said Dewsnip. “As Nance said, we’re not over the line yet. We need to enjoy tonight because it’s important to enjoy the highs, but we need to be ready to get back to work on Monday. We’ve got a game, I think, against Stoke City next week.”

This is how fans reacted as Leicester fans vent anger towards their own players after defeat at Plymouth…

@MorganSmith1000: Top of the league and booing btw

@Jack__fpl: Cheers for the 3 points 😘

@Chris_Wriiight: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a club

@simonpauljones: Just another game.

@BowenWilkie: Top of league and crying. Love to see it. You should be walking this league the squad you got. Hope you bottle it 🤣

@JimmyEngland1: First noise we heard from you lot all night 😭😭😭

@Simmo844: Top of the league and “has to go”?

@newburner58: Top of the league and calling for managers to go ahhahaha what a joke of a club.

@PTMYTH: Wanting a manager out when top of the league? Strange behaviour

@JamieGeorgeSpe1: Your team is on course to finish on 96 pts & you’re booing then demanding the manager is sacked 🤣🤣🤣

@Harvey9252: you’re top of the league helmet

@woddyuk: No one clapping near me, more like a lynch mob. In less than a week we’ve single handedly saved Millwall & Argyle from going down. 2 teams that hadn’t won at home in living memory. Both win with 1 shot on target. @Argyle were awful, but battled & home support was class tbf. 👏

@AHSKYBLUES: Things you love to see 😍

@RealRodneyClam: How on earth can you be calling for the manager when you are TOP of the table 🤦‍♂️😂😂

@Caoimhincc72: Booing your manager while you are top of the league. Modern day supporters are sickening.

@HolbornRoberts: Bloke has you top of the league – why does he need to go?

@Kieron_777: How embarrassing are these lot. Top of the league and they’re booing 🤣 That Premier League title has gone well and truly to their head

@craiglcfc: This is the fanbase that clapped them off after being relegated, when they then had a party on the pitch afterwards with a bouncy castle (that wouldn’t inflate ironically) 💀 These lot don’t care. They’re either out of contract or trying to get out due to the financial issues.

@JagerMouse: These lot clapped us off & got the hump at people booing after relegation, so no surprise they’re clapping this gutless set of arseholes off for losing & failing to score against 2 relegation-threatened teams in 4 days. Broken beyond repair. Exactly why the club takes the piss.

@TazkerV2:
17 point lead blown ✅
Fans turning on players ✅
Fans turning on manager ✅
Manager blaming schedule ✅
Looming points deduction if promoted ✅
Not saying they won’t go up, but I’d much rather be in our position than there’s atm.

@Daviddbrownn22: Fuck me these lot want somet to twist about don’t the. If a team’s ever forgot who they are it’s these insufferable bastards.

@LewisKnt9: You can’t beat the arms out and stare after a bad defeat with the headshake thrown in

@CoryMatthews18: Leicester fans booing and asking for the managers head while sitting top of the league, same team that sacked the manager that won them the PL (5000/1) just 9 months after him winning the league. The most fickle and classless fanbase in the 92.

@GrantHeseltine: I totally get the fans being frustrated and feeling the pressure and tension of the run in, BUT this constant calling for the manager to be sacked and claiming they’re useless, don’t know what they’re doing for the likes of Farke & Enzo is ridiculous. Society is mad #lufc

@Jimmyyy_____: Thought I had seen everything but here we are Leicester fans wanting their manager out when sitting 1st in the championship. There is genuinely no hope for managers in the game 🤣

@OfficialVizeh: Would you boo your players while top of the league with 4 games left despite a possible historic level bottle job?

@grogan6: Imagine being top of the league and booing. The entitled little brats.
