Leeds issue statement as police evacuate staff from Elland Road with parts of stadium sealed off

Leeds United have took to issue a statement as police evacuate staff from Elland Road with parts of the stadium sealed off on Friday morning.

After being alerted by police to a security threat, the Premier League club had to close off Elland Road with West Yorkshire Police currently inspecting the ground in response to a threat made against the club via social media.

There has been no extra details about the threat, with Leeds posting a statement on their website confirming that Elland Road was temporarily evacuated with staff sent home.

West Yorkshire Police say a report of a threat to the security of Elland Road was received just before 10pm on Thursday night. “Investigations are currently ongoing to establish the credibility of that threat.”

LUFC said: “Leeds United’s offices, ticket office, Foundation offices and club shop at Elland Road will be closed until further notice on the advice of the police.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and we will inform the public when normal service resumes.”
