Leeds fans in the home end and Sheffield United fans try giving it large in front of away end

Leeds fans were spotted in the home end and Sheffield United fans try giving it large in front of the away end on Monday night.

The hosts went ahead 14 minutes in with a Meslier own goal, however, Leeds got themselves out of trouble with goals from Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka and Joel Piroe in the final 20 minutes of the top of the table Championship clash.

The result sees Leeds go five points clear of Sheffield United at the top, and seven clear of Burnley in third, the away end jubilant and singing “Champions again ole ole ole!”.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke believes his side grew into the game as he has been explaining to Sky Sports:

“You have to say we played a strong opponent and it was a tight game.

“For the first 25 minutes they were by far the better side and we were a bit too nervous, not brave and how we conceded the goal was not us.

“But from minute 25 we started to play football and gained more control.

“When you win against the top sides in this league it’s good for confidence but it’s just three points and if we stop winning points now we won’t finish where we want to finish so we have to stay humble, grounded and disciplined.”

Farke in his post-match media conference, per BBC Sport:

“I’m proud of the boys – this is one of the toughest places you can go and it was the worst possible start.

“The reaction the boys showed was outstanding. We were able to find not just another gear but another two or three.

“It was a tight win but a deserved one. It was a really good night for us and a priceless three points.

“Each and every point brings us closer to where we want to finish but you have to keep going.

“We’re seven points clear of third before this round of matches and we are seven points clear now. In this league the momentum can change quickly and you can need some luck.

“They were the better side in the first 25 minutes. What they invested was outstanding and they deserved to lead.

“We didn’t play with courage and were a bit nervous. We started to play football and we grew into the game which is not easy against this side.

“We lacked robustness in and around the opponents’ box in the first half and this is what we added in the second half.

“If you concede a cheap goal then you have to risk more to get more offensive players on the pitch and this is what we did.”

(On being in the stands due to a touchline ban) “It gives you a good tactical view being up there but my analysis of the game wouldn’t have been different.”

Farke has just said Ethan Ampadu might have a serious injury: “It looks like a cartilage injury and it’s clear he might have to have a surgery in the coming days.

“He won’t be available for the upcoming games at least

“He more or less didn’t miss a minute last season. It’s a blow for us. Perhaps it was the reason we didn’t start this game well.”

Farke’s post-match media duties:

“When you overcome difficult times it educates the side.

“This is one of the best wins you can have. The reaction was second to none.

“Of course you need a bit of luck with scoring the goals in the right moments.

“At half-time I was a bit angry so I tried to wake them up a little bit.

“My staff had to step up today and feel the pressure on the sidelines. Congratulations to them.”

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder speaking to Sky Sports:

“I would have shook hands at 88 minutes. Disappointing to concede from the set-play really but there’s a reason why they’re a top side so you’ve got to give them credit.

“I thought we put them on the back foot, especially in the first half an hour. We got out of the blocks, they sort of wrestled it back a little bit.

“They were the better side in the second half, even though we had moments. So we knew we had to suffer a little bit at times. We weren’t going to be naive enough to think that we were going to play at home and have the majority of the play and possession and steamroller over a side like Leeds United because I don’t think that would be the case, and that’s not me being negative.

“But in the big moments they find it. The scoreline is a touch harsh on us. It’s a fabulous finish late on by Piroe but we’re a little bit disappointed with the goal and control of the game got a away from us a little bit.

“We want to score goals and score goals at home. We got off to a fabulous start and got the crowd involved. They were fantastic right the way through and even at the end.

“I think it was two good sides who had a right go at it.

“It was billed as a really good game and I can imagine from the viewers’ point of view it was that but obviously as a home manager getting beat at home it’s disappointing but we can’t let it derail us, there’s 12 games left, we reacted to disappointment really well.

“We’ve got to get back on the horse as we do, don’t beat ourselves up too much.

“A long way to go, congratulations to Leeds United, they’re a top side for a reason.”

Leeds United defender and goalscorer Junior Firpo speaking to Sky Sports:

“We never stopped believing. We started a little bit slow and we concede the goal but we are a top fitness team, we have a lot of options on the bench and I think they changed the game when they came on.

“Against Sunderland it was the same, we keep going until the end and today we have what we deserve.

“In the last 20 or 25 minutes of the first half I think we were dominant and had our chances but we couldn’t score a goal. And then in the second half we started really strong and the goals just came out of nothing and I think we are really, really happy.”

Leeds United goalscorer Joel Piroe speaking to Sky Sports:

“The belief was there from the start.

“We said at half-time, the moment we score one we will be able to score the second one as well.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s in the 88th minute or 90th we always keep believing.”

Leeds United’s Dan James has been talking Sky Sports: “It was unbelievable to play in. They came out of the traps quickly and we didn’t react well enough.

“First half we weren’t up to it and it was just about getting the first goal and once we got that it was about kicking on. We changed things at half-time and went 4-4-2 – that came from the manager.

“We knew tonight was a massive game but there’s still a long time to go”

Twitter users gave their reaction after seeing Leeds fans in the home end and Sheffield United fans try giving it large in front of the away end…

@pmclaren94: That’s the best rattling of another fan I’ve ever seen hahahahaha

@lufclewis: The dude above you is raging 🤣🤣

@MagicianSpanish: I love watching these videos back, can see the guy on the scaffolding, now i know where he was when he took his vid when we were signing champions again ole ole!

@jacobwadswort18: Pathetic security, literally in touching distance with the Leeds subs & thr only person to react was a staff member from Leeds.

@C20George: Sorry but that is amazing hahhaha

@Death_2TheBest: Fuck me they’ve some cracking invisible walls at Bramall Lane. Bounced right off them before the old hold me back behind a steward 😂

@danny_booth90: A 60 year old man wow this is embarrassing , any other game and he’s getting dragged out the ground for going onto the pitch

@aidenlufc: Hahahahahah fuck me what a club

@G4moore: This why I love football, 10-15 mins before that and they are all laughing at you climbing up there and just berating you, after the 2nd goal and they want to kill you, only football does this to us..

@shaney9ss: Looked like he was knackered after that 3 yard run/skip

@bencollins1919: It’s nice of them to have a ‘grandads pen’, not sure next to the away fans is the correct place to have it though. Quite a few there look as though they needed paramedics after that.
