Laura Woods in viral video getting absolutely soaked as rain pours down at Torquay

Laura Woods is seen in a viral video getting absolutely soaked as rain pours down at Torquay for the FA Cup game against Derby.

The pundit and presenter got completely drenched while trying to report on ITV with the game against the League One playing out to a 2-2 on Sunday.

The talkSPORT regular was on duty with the game down in south Devon and the weather was rather grim.

Footage shows her standing on the turf trying to read her notes from an iPad as the torrential rain lashes it down on her and her fellow colleagues, though Woods admits she “loved it”.

Uploading the video to social media, Woods said in the post: “Corrrr, Devon’s lovely this time of the year isn’t it,” adding with a ‘woozy’ face and a laughing emoji.

“Despite the rain, what a day! Loved it. Well done to Torquay getting the replay.”

Will Goodwin produced a stoppage-time equaliser to give the National League’s bottom side Torquay United a replay against 10-man Derby County in a first-round tie steeped in the classic traditions of the FA Cup.

Will Osula scored a brace to put the third tier side – playing in the First Round for the first time for 37 years – firmly on course for the Second Round, only for the Gulls to surprise many 10 minutes into the second half thanks to an Asa Hall penalty that saw Eiran Cashin sent off for pulling back Goodwin in the box.

Torquay fought on, going forward and after Hall twice went close, then Goodwin found the net 42 seconds into added time at the end of stoppage time by deflecting a shot from Aaron Jarvis past keeper Joe Wildsmith.

That capped a superb comeback from Torquay, who were looking to win their first FA Cup tie for 11 years and looked out of it after Osula’s double.

Gary Johnson said his Torquay side’s comeback in the draw with Derby shows the commitment his players have to the club.

“It was a fantastic cup tie – you like to be involved in those types of ties, where at 2-0 everybody’s thinking ‘game over’,” Johnson told BBC Radio Devon.

“But it’s never over with our lads, and whether it’s the FA Cup or a league game we try and push them and push them and gradually they’re learning what 100% effort means.

“It’s not always 100% quality because of the level we’re at, but you’ve got to give 100% effort, and if you do then you can put a League One team under pressure for 45 minutes like we did in the second half.”

“I don’t really remember much of it, I remember the ball coming into me and thinking ‘I’ve got to just put it towards the goal’ and it’s gone in and I just ran off,” Goodwin told BBC Radio Devon.

“I can’t remember much else about what happened.”

Having won 6-1 at home to Aldershot last Tuesday, and now a dramatic draw against a League One side, Johnson hopes his team can start turning their poor form around that saw them win just two of their first 16 games in the league.

“We had more subs than we’ve had this season so far, we’ve got injuries that have just started coming back,” said the 67-year-old.

“We’ve still got a lot of injuries, but we’ve hung on in there, we had the game against Aldershot, the 6-1 win, and we knew we had that in us and it just had to come out so everyone could see it and feel it.

“That took us into this game and I think it will take us into the rest of the season.”

Derby boss Paul Warne told BBC Radio Derby:

“At 2-0 I thought, maybe arrogantly, that we’d keep control of the ball and ask them more questions.

“But then the sending-off and the penalty – we’re causing our own problems and down to 10 men, no matter who you’re playing, they’re going to throw everything at it.

“The goalie goes up for the corner, the crowd are right behind them, the wind’s behind them – everything seemed against us. We just didn’t do enough.”
