Days after the Carabao Cup First Round draw was made, Sky Sports have selected the opening round’s matches and there is one tie that not everyone expected to be chosen, the second one however was guessed as soon as it was drawn out.
In total, two ties have been chosen, two of the teams are from the Championship and there is one each from League One and Two. Though there is a surprise as both are on two different Tuesdays.

THE SELECTIONS:

All Carabao Cup matches but Portsmouth’s game against Birmingham will take place the week commencing Monday 12th August.
Portsmouth.co.uk state: “Pompey had requested for the curtain raiser to be staged away from Fratton Park, to ensure work on the pitch and stadium can be completed.
“Regardless, Sky’s intervention now means effectively they have succeeded in obtaining three-additional days.”
