Nottingham Forest’s Jesse Lingard faces a bitter reunion with West Ham fans as they reveal a plan to mock him when they face each other.
A number of Hammers fans are furious with Jesse Lingard for ‘breaking a promise’ in deciding to sign a £200,000-per-week contract with newly-promoted side Nottingham Forest over returning to the London Stadium.
The England international, who departed Manchester United at the end of his contract, turned his back on West Ham to sign for the East Midlands outfit despite excelling on loan with the Hammers last season.
Lingard’s decision has left a sour taste with West Ham fans and they are planning to make their feelings known when the 29-year-old forward makes his home debut for Forest on the 14th of August.

Lingard is expected to play for Nottingham Forest when they take on David Moyes’ side in the Premier League next month and the West Ham fans have now revealed how they why taunt him.
A West Ham fan page called ‘Whucentre’ took to Twitter claiming they and others will throw fake bank notes at the 29-year-old and encouraged other Hammers supporters to join in.
They shared a screenshot from Amazon, detailing exactly how much the ‘prop money’ costs and wrote the accompanying caption: ‘Anyone else going to Forest away… you know what to do’.
The tweet has since gone viral and got quite a mixed reaction with some Hammers fans calling it tinpot.
Forest approached Lingard with a lucrative £200,000-per-week deal to help boost their squad ahead of their first campaign in the Premier League since 1999.
West Ham had also been in the transfer race to sign Lingard permanently after his successful loan spell in 2020-21.
But if anyone is to blame for Lingard choosing Forest of West Ham it’s those at the top of the London outfit who were reluctant to raise their own offer, which was less than the one made by Forest.

This meant Forest won the transfer race to the 29-year-old – who has now joined the club’s other new arrivals for the remainder of their pre-season campaign.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis was always going to bankroll a significant summer spending once the club sealed promotion to the top flight for the first time this century.
They put in £70m on transfers after finalising a double move for Huddersfield’s Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo on Wednesday.
Dean Henderson, who arrived on loan from Manchester United, was Forest’s most eye-catching deal so far, while they also broke their transfer record to sign Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin for £17m.
A lot of fans across the country wanted to see ‘proper club’ Forest back in the big time last season, and it seems there are no complaint to how they’re doing their business – just West Ham it seems over Lingard.

Jesse Lingard faces a bitter reunion as West Ham fans reveal a plan to mock him on matchday, and there was plenty of reaction on it…
@fcwhufc: Might do that
@AaronMc_92: Geezer secured europa for us leading to one of the best seasons of my life. We should have given him a deadline a long time ago. Let it be, better younger options out there. On to the future now the sagas over
@nffcEPL: Old hat, it’s already been done. We did it to Derby last season but feel free to copy if you want as the extra paper will come in handy to soak up all your tears 👍🏻#NFFC #WHUFC
@Simon_bubblor: thats so sad
@NoWanKarez: I would literally pay real money to see this happen.
@N_Boultby: Forest are rattling everyone and the season hasn’t even started yet – I love it 😂😂😂
@DavidBe42427078: Really doesn’t have to be done. The bloke did brilliant for us while he was here. If him taking the cash offends you then then at least show some class
@NFFC18652: Thing is he hasn’t come to us for the cash. We’re not paying anywhere near the money people have me ruined.
@WHUBoleynBoys: Fucking hell man. Other fans are too right – we’re not West Ham anymore. We’re tinpot.
@pokeefe1: Ironic that you complain about money then encourage others to waste their own on something nobody in the real world gives a toss about. It’s football. Shut up and get a grip.
@4evaNFFC: Invest in some tissue to wipe away your tears.
@MainManMina: Normalise this at Newcastle (a)
@finley_mclellan: Fuck me, the state of some of our fans 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@acalladine01: Imagine throwing fake money to a club that has enough of it 😂
@jonrileynffc: Oh dear, who would have thought, the mighty west ham united flashing fake money at nottingham forest 🤣💷💸#nffc
@happyhammer190: I’m going forest away and couldnt think of anything more sad to be honest,get over it and get a grip west ham fans obsession with lingard on twitter is getting embarrassing now he chose forest over us for the money big deal I don’t blame him , plenty more fish in the sea
Move on
@AdamAppleby6: In all fairness it’s West Ham’s fault, if they’d signed him after his loan deal instead of trying to get him on free.
@Andrew_kirk79: How embarrassing
@ConcordU9s: I don’t get all the hype!! He play half a season. Helping us. His choices are his. Nottingham forest fc are paying him less then we offered. We should be looking at big and better player. ⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️
@AUCasanna: Jeez just let it go. Fans should just give him zero reaction. All this fuss we are making him the media topic he wants.
@Cam16301: Doesn’t even make sense, you don’t do this when they have money you do it when they’re poor like derby 😂
@NFFC18652: I don’t think this will have the desired effect you’re going for seeing as you’ll be in the lower tier so you’ll be basically throwing it on yourselves.
@TWheaty79: Unless of course they use their bubbles to propel notes around the ground 😂😂
