Jeff Stelling cheekily taunts Portsmouth live on TV as they are thrashed 4-1 by League One relegation contenders Northampton Town.
The Cobblers got revenge on Pompey after suffering a 4-0 defeat against their opposition back when they faced each other in October 2020.
The Sky Sports Soccer Saturday presenter couldn’t believe his eyes as he kept seeing goals fly in at Sixfields, with Portsmouth not even threatening the Northampton keeper Jonathan Mitchell.
It wasn’t until the 21st minute that caretaker Jon Brady’s side took the lead, thanks to Ryan Watson who dispatches the free-kick into the top left-hand corner.
Two minutes later, Watson was there again, rising highest to header home from Miller’s corner, making it 2-0 and putting his side in a more comfortable position.
Anyone fancy a tune? @pompey 2-0 down 😬😬😬 pic.twitter.com/UxuxnsRgiv

The 32nd minute saw Northampton go three up and it was another assist from Miller with his corner whipped into such a dangerous area and this time it was Fraser Horsfall nodding the ball into the back of the net.
We’re all subject to the blues now and then..yeah 3 times in 30mins 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬 pic.twitter.com/MACqjvmXkA

The goals didn’t stop there for the hosts as they only went a got a fourth with minutes left of the first half to go.
MacGillivray came rushing out of his box to head away under pressure, he only got it as far as Sam Hoskins, though, and he brilliantly looped it into the net.
Darn! 4-0 in 40 mins. @Pompey an absolute disgrace. 😬😬😬@mrandrewmoon @guywhittingham @solentsport pic.twitter.com/PuRhfmWyrr

By this point is left Sky reporter and former keeper Matt Murray surprised at what he was watching live from one of the stands at the ground.
He spoke on how there just wasn’t any threat whatsoever from Portsmouth, who before the game sat 5th in the League One table and seven points behind second place Hull City with two games in hand over them.
However, with the way Pompey’s form is going, they look closer to slipping out of the playoffs altogether, and following today’s result, they are now two points ahead of Accrington Stanley who sit just outside the playoffs, looking to steal their spot.
As Jeff Stelling was reading out the half time scores, up popped Northampton Town beating Portsmouth and knowing the Sky Sports presenter, he couldn’t resist making a cheeky jibe towards Kenny Jackett’s side.
He said: “Northampton four, Portsmouth nil, what we should do is like the old days, put Northampton four and then after spell it F O U R,
“They have not scored four goals this season [in a single game], not surprisingly considering they’ve barely scored this season.”
He also said that there would be some harsh words from Kenny Jackett towards his players during the break.
The second half saw just one more goal, but this time for Portsmouth, with Ellis Harrison scoring a consolation after White went down under challenge from Horsfall.

As Jeff Stelling taunts Portsmouth live on TV after the Northampton thrashing, fans reacted during the game and at full time…
@mrandrewmoon: Guy Whittingham has just called that the worst half he’s EVER seen from #Pompey. It’s hard to disagree
@DanJPurnell: If Jackett’s dismissed tonight.
1) Season is still salvageable.
2) New manager has 5 months to start moulding the team ahead of next season.
3) Fans will be rejuvenated.
4) Players will be looking to impress.
@djliamh: No sugar coating this. No fight, no determination, no desire. Northampton have made #pompey look like a team in 22nd place in the league. Simply cannot defend it. I am angry. I genuinely want to go home.
@morgansheppardd: Club statement pls
@Willfrattonpark: Get that dinosaur out now!! Enough is enough. We just got battered by one of the worst teams in the division
@PompeyHazza9: Ha to go today no excuses to why he is still here tomorrow
@DanLewis1999: ANNOUNCE CLUB STATEMENT. #JACKETTOUT
@POMPEYBENNY: If the club don’t act now they never will
@84Knight: FFS. That second half is going to be classed as a 1-0 win and a good enough way to have lost in the eyes of the owners to keep him in his job.
@archiemcgreal: Not fit to wear the shirt
@FazRallerrrr: We didn’t survive as a football club to deserve this performance. #Pompey
@Packham93: If you don’t sack him, then sack yourselves. Absolute shambles. It need a shake up NOW to save our season, although it’s needed a shake up for 2 seasons now. Wake up and fucking sake him!!!!! @eric_eisner @Michael_Eisner
@LukeHuntii: I think we all know what the next tweet should be fellas
@Pompeynat1988: Time to sack the manager! He has to bloody go now
@OfficialAJ84: This club is rotten right now. Absolutely had enough of this shite
@mynameisIan1977: I’ve backed him in the past when others said he should go. But I think now is the time for change. Biggest problem is with who??
@jaaob_: Something in the club rotten to the core and ain’t just the manager
@shamus64: I’m afraid any other team would of had enough by now . But our board and owners will do nothing . The team is at its lowest ebb and needs a new injection of passion from somewhere a d it’s not coming from KJ
@BenTarling5: God I wish fans were let in
1) the players wouldn’t be allowed to play that badly by the fans first half
2) even if we are as bad as we are we would make noise have a beer and enjoy ourselves regardless.
@luluboo64: Jackett out now before you lose the only revenue you have get it done CATLIN and eisners hiding over the pond
@TomHaustead: @eric_eisner @Michael_Eisner at this point, if you don’t act now you are making yourselves look incompetent. Not a good look when you will be looking to sell tickets for next year. A new manager could reinvigorate us and we could yet make a playoff charge. Ball is in your court
@Samhayward215: Give it to Hermann and Jamo until the end of the season! At least they got some passion
