Ipswich Town reveal new 24/25 pink third kit in collaboration with Ed Sheeran

Ipswich Town reveal their new 24/25 pink third kit in collaboration with Ed Sheeran who posted a video unveiling it.

The Premier League newcomers’ distinctive kit draws inspiration from ‘Suffolk Pink,’ a colour traditionally associated with the cottages of Suffolk, and incorporates various elements that honour the local heritage and the club’s legacy.

The design prominently features a silhouette of Framlingham Castle, a notable landmark in Sheeran’s hometown and the inspiration for his song “Castle on the Hill.”

Additionally, it showcases the iconic Wolsey Gate, which influenced the turrets depicted on the Town badge.

The front of the shirt also displays soundwaves captured from the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd as players emerge from the Portman Road tunnel.

There is also the representation of the 60 miles of Suffolk coastline, stretching from Felixstowe to Lowestoft, further reinforcing the design’s local significance.

Ed posted via Twitter: Introducing the third kit for @IpswichTown , created in collaboration with Ed. “It feels like such an honour to be involved in this football club, and be able to create things so close to my heart, which has always been my hometown, family and friends. Which is what football is about really.” – Ed

The Club is proud to launch its third kit for the 2024/25 season, designed in collaboration with Ed Sheeran.

The new kit is available to purchase now from shop.itfc.co.uk.

Inspired by ‘Suffolk Pink’, representing the iconic cottages scattered across the county, the new shirt features the silhouette of Framlingham Castle, made famous by Ed’s track ‘Castle on Hill’. The Wolsey Gate, which inspired the turrets at the top of the Town crest, is also included in the design.

‘Ed Sheeran x Ipswich Town’ appears inside the neck whilst an Ipswich Town heart motif takes its place on the back of the shirt.

Soundwaves created from the cheer of the crowd as players run out of the tunnel also appear on the front of the shirt, along with a representation of the 60 miles of Suffolk coastline, running from Felixstowe to Lowestoft.

“I wanted to incorporate Framingham Castle on here, as it’s my hometown, and in my opinion a huge landmark of Suffolk,” Ed said.

“We used ‘Suffolk Pink’ which nods to the way cottages have been painted here for generations, but also how beautiful the sunset is in our amazing county. There are also sound waves from the noise of fans at Portman Road.

“It feels like such an honour to be involved in this football club and to be able to create things so close to my heart, which has always been my hometown, family and friends. Which is what football is about really.

“I can’t wait for the kick-off and to see us in the Prem again.”

Here’s how fans reacted as Ipswich Town reveal their new 24/25 pink third kit in collaboration with Ed Sheeran…

@FinleyG17: Pink had so much potential, but at least it’s better than Southampton’s pink kit

@FinleyG17: Think it’s a 6/10, not fantastic but I don’t mind it, better than Southampton’s 3rd 😭

@ABitOfPork: Ok, I thought I would hate it but actually it’s a beauty.

@janthonydean: Looks great Imo, nice nod to framlingham castle. Custom to ITFC which is better than most cut and paste copies there are.

@LizBeighton: Nice! Would have been even better with simplified badge – just the horse and ball but still a nice kit

@FootballerHaver: Nicest kit of the season 🤩🔵⚪️

@joe_wilber1: Love that we’ve gone with Pink, just wish it was “Suffolk Pink” rather than such a bold version of the colour

@harveytchevous: Never thought I’d say this… but I like a pink kit

@ThomasGermany3: sammie szmodics in this kit would have at least made it bearable lads come on

@Archie17057994: Can’t tell if I love it or hate it

@Connorbennett10: Bloody love it.

@Peter_Mahoney_: Unpopular but I actually love it #itfc

@talkabouttowen: Think it’s worth remembering the audience this is being marketed to. Yes, it’s not a standard Town shirt, but it’s got Ed Sheeran branding and will therefore sell to Ed Sheeran fans. The colours suit that audience and higher shirt sales can only be a good thing for our club #ITFC

@B19LFS: This may not be everyone’s cup of tea… But remember, this is business. This shirt isn’t for the average #itfc fan. This shirt is Ed Sheeran merch. 80%+ of his listener’s are women who will buy anything with him ‘logo’ on it. This will sell around the world. More money…

@TheSegITFC: As a Framlingham lad I love that the Castle is included. The Suffolk detail is a fantastic touch, really do love this shirt! It’s a banger! #itfc

@AlexOsborn25: Yeah not going to lie that is horrid #ITFC

@Jaceitfc: Ipswich just knew I got paid today so buying this tomorrow 😍💞

@lawseyitfc: I’ve wanted a pink kit for years now, but it just reminds me of last years keeper kit 😂 It’s not quite blackout, but it will look good when Clarke is fist pumping in it at Brighton away #ITFC

@ktlngfrd: i sort of think we should have done EITHER an ed sheeran designed shirt, OR a suffolk pink shirt. i get that sheeran and suffolk go hand in hand, but it’s trying to do too much in one kit. its lost the charm that a “suffolk” shirt could have had if done more authentically #itfc

@RhysCurtis14: #ITFC To those moaning about the 3rd kit, Don’t see how, it’s a beautiful kit inspired by one of our own and it isn’t some bland template that Umbro will use on x number of clubs. Think about how much extra revenue this will bring into the club from non fans who enjoy his music!

@lawseyitfc: I’ve wanted a pink kit for years now, but it just reminds me of last years keeper kit 😂 It’s not quite blackout, but it will look good when Clarke is fist pumping in it at Brighton away #ITFC

@Keiryoung501: I like the storytelling but the actual design is a bit busy, completes a set of 3 kits I’m sure will again break our sales records again #itfc

@sambakey: Strange that the design of the 3rd shirt doesn’t incorporate the large number of empty premises & vape shops in our run down town centre 😂 #itfc
