An investigation has been launched after some rather shocking scenes at the Bilston v Droylsden FA Vase tie on Saturday afternoon.
Two goals from Nelson Van sent North West Counties League Division One North side Droylsden into the last eight of the competition.
Bilston Town of the Midland League Division One had an effort being cleared off the line, another came back off the post and Droylsden keeper Jordan Latham put in quite the performance to keep his side in it.
But trouble broke out on the pitch and in the stands, as can be seen in the videos which has since emerged on social media…

The Bilston number 10 didn’t want any after he saw his mate get floored. Not the first video I’ve seen from there today. Disgraceful behaviour from the club. pic.twitter.com/iaEhBC1r7L

Bilston Town FC tweeted at half 10 on Saturday night: “We understand that there is a video or videos shared by people from the game today. We would like to state that this is not a fair reflection of the game or day as a whole.
“As a club we are in the process of investigating all footage from today’s game. We would like to thank the supporters of @Droylsden_FC for their cooperation.”
Bilston player Luke Carter, in reply to online reaction, said: “He was defending his family. So instead of chatting shite on every post know the facts first.”
@Ry_Rave: “Honestly embarrassing from the @BilstonTownFC players at ht to Jump the barriers to punch a female fan wow the no 15 needs a ban the players let the true fans and the town down”
Luke Carter responded: “That was his mum he was protecting you numpty. 7/8 lads and him and his brother still stood their ground for their mum.”
When one user said he was surprised the Bilston lads didn’t coming steaming in, Luke replied: “Come on Craig you know that wouldn’t be the case with us lot. They were over the other side of the pitch as you can see from the video. And most were already in changing rooms when this happened and then came out.
“I thought it was a good game on a difficult surface. Droylsden are a good side and wish them all the best. Just unfortunate a couple of muppets ruined it at the end.”
@NSoul3011: “YOU FUCKING BLOODS! Shame the Number 15 from them was an absolute twat throwing punches. Hope that one that tried kicking Phillo enjoyed his lunch as well. WERE ON THE MARCH WITH PACEYS ARMMMYYYY”
Bilston player Jordan Crump: “Your manager has hit our coach when he’s not looking👍 video evidence so don’t worry mate he’s in trouble”
@NSoul3011: “Footage of 2 of your players chasing our assistant down and trying to flying kick him, so get fucked lad. 🖕. Shame as your fans were belting, shame you lot are cunts who couldn’t take losing 😂😂”
Bilston player Ben Priest: “The issue is right we shook hands with every single player after the game and said all the best in next round ask any of them, but when you see 50/60 of your fans round one of our families we’re going to run over and see what’s happening, you’d hope your team would do the same”
@NSoul3011: “Mate, thats bollocks. Wasn’t that many around the families. We’ve seen the footage of your 15 and some woman throwing punches, we’ve got a woman who was targeted as well. Shame really as it was a quality game and I had a chat with loads of your fans who were superb.”
Ben Priest: “What im saying is tho you’re moaning saying that our team was jumping the fences but we ran over to see what’s happening and even spoke to a few of your fans normally saying get yours back and we’ll get ours, no need from either side just got stupid”
@NSoul3011: “You are obvs going to try and put the blame on us, no one was innocent and it’s taken away from a superb game. But when I’ve got Bilston fans around me saying your player is in the wrong, it’s hard to defend.”
Ben Priest: “When have I put the blame on you? I’ve just stated that we all ran over to see what’s happening and to make sure our lot was ok? Like I said we shook hands at the end of the game and wished your players good luck in the next round”
@NSoul3011: “Think both teams ran over tbh mate, the problem was 2 players chasing our assistant after it. Really appreciate that game today, thought it was superb, and if I’m honest, I expected you guys to beat us. All the best for the rest of the season mate.”
Ben Priest: “To be fair he was running off after smacking someone from behind but yeah all the best in the next round 👏🏼”
Cody Artwell’s flick found Kyle Campbell, who then tapped it to Nellson Van, rounded the keeper and put it in the back of the net to make it 1-0 on 18 minutes.
Droylsden then doubled their lead on 75 minutes, that man Van again with a superb finish, under the keeper after a flick on by Artwell.
Here’s what fans had to say on social media with an investigation launched after the shocking scenes at the Bilston v Droylsden FA Vase tie…
@NSoul3011: Fair play for this post. We spoke to numerous Bilston fans from the moment we arrived and everyone was absolutely fantastic and so friendly. It was a superb game showcasing some great footie. Shame the end of it ruined it. Honestly, all the best for the rest of the season 🩸
@GrassrootsFP: Disgraceful shameful scenes at @BilstonTownFC today.
@ShaunBa52097859: Just seen a video of a Bilston fan getting one planted on him by the droylsden assistant gaffer
@stelewis9: Looks like he’s defending himself to me 🤔
@Ellisallen_: Great dig. Everyone would do the exact same when being chased by a group of bulbs
@Ellisjacko11: Looks like he’s defending himself to me there
@Benwild75458475: What about the 5 people all running after him. What u want him to do put his hands in his pocket
