Ian Wright causes controversy with his Premier League Team of the Season so far with some very surprising inclusions riling up fans.

The Arsenal legend has like many pundits decided that now was the right time to reveal his XI with most top flight sides having played 14 games for the 2020/21 season, which is slightly behind where we would normally be at Christmas of course.

It has been a highly unpredictable season so far though, and the league table is yet to really take shape, however we’ve also seen some real stand out performers in the Premier League this season.

In attack, Wright has gone with Spurs stand out stars Harry Kane and Heung-min Son due to their certain to succeed connection, before giving a special shoutout to Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, you’d be stupid to leave him out let’s be honest.

“If we’re going to talk about these three [attackers], then the emergence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin has to be up there, has to be lauded,” the former striker said on Ringer FC’s Wrighty’s House podcast.

“Simply because there was a time not too long ago where people were saying he’s just not good enough for this level he’s not going to score the goals.

“I remember to saying to somebody I watch him and he does all the things a striker does; near post, far post, link the play, unbelievable in the air, he wins his own flick-ons. And when I watched him you think to yourself if he could add goals to his game, then we’re talking about elite.

“Now he’s scoring, you look at it and you think to yourself he’s the archetypal centre forward now, scores goals, scrappy in the box, he’s in there.”

Wright also gave plenty of honourable mentions, adding: “I would be happy with that team, of course, there’s people that’s missed out.

“Jarrod Bowen, people like Bowen should get a mention, [Pablo] Fornals, Danny Ings, James Ward-Prowse, [Jannik] Vestergaard, somebody who I’d loved to have played against, but you watch him, for the size of him can play football.

“You’ve got Sadio Mane and [Mohamed] Salah and Georgino Wijnaldum who have been playing brilliantly, Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford, even [Bukayo] Saka. But for me that team, those guys have really made an impression on their teams this season.”

Wright’s Team of the Season so far:
Emiliano Martinez.
James Justin, Conor Coady, Michael Keane, Andy Robertson, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Bruno Fernandes,
Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Manager: Jurgen Klopp
