Huddersfield owner responds to ‘negative’ fans calling for manager Lee Grant to be sacked

Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle responds to ‘negative’ fans on social media calling for manager Lee Grant to be sacked.

Nagle has replied to a number of tweets from supporters wanting the club to get rid of Grant following a 2-0 win over Northampton on December 29th.

The win sees Huddersfield sitting 5th place in League One, and are also five games unbeaten, including a 5-0 over Port Vale and a 3-1 win against Rotherham, with only two losses in their last 10 across all competitions.

There is fan criticism over Grant’s playing style, results against stronger teams, and possession issues.

Nagle has defended the manager in several of his replies, seeking positivity as the Terriers look to maintain their current form.

@TROOPSTER147: Decent Xmas so far for the terriers. Do we need to have a spend in the Jan window though to push for top 2 @KevinNagleMLS @htafc

@KevinNagleMLS: We will likely not sit back idly. We are in for the fight.

@TerrierRealist: I’m still firmly Grant Out. Yet to beat a good team this season, no clear style of play, struggle to complete five passes, very easy to play against (play on the front-foot and you’ll cause us problems), tactically outclassed a lot. The opposite of Northern Football. #htafc

@KevinNagleMLS: The Si way. OMG. Always negative. Help you.

@AlpineTerrier: This town has had so many knocks over the years that too many people today are eternally negative about everything, including the club. Once we return to the PL they might cheer up a bit, but it’s not a certainty 😉

@KevinNagleMLS: I hear you Alpine Terrier. Truly not against criticism at all. I am okay with that. But there are some who that’s all they enjoy doing. Easy to track them in today’s environment.

@jimothy_jaeger: Because you’re ownership is shite, kev?

@KevinNagleMLS: Super mature.

@Dan_Htafc: I’d say it’s more immature only replying to tweets because we are doing well. You’ve been silent for the last month Kevin?

@KevinNagleMLS: Purposely. Took a break. Was going to get back on 1-1-26 regardless of performance. Was reading much of what was written and tracking trends even though it’s not a true depiction of the fan base but you can certainly pick up lots of constructive information.

@Dan_Htafc: What’s the point in coming on to give fans stick because we’ve beat 3 shit teams?

@KevinNagleMLS: Who is giving stick dude? Have not mentioned one thing about performance. You have.

@Dan_Htafc: I just think there isn’t much point replying to fans, let the football do the talking. 3 wins in a row is good, but we’re still a long way off where we wanted to be.

@KevinNagleMLS: 100 per cent. You are likely right. But why let so many negative people rule social media. Really interested in how to make the stadium a better experience. Want constructive info.

@Dan_Htafc: Calling fans negative isn’t stick? I’d say it is, just ignore them and carry on. If we do well come the end of the season then come on here and reply to tweets. Now makes no sense, we’ve been awful for 2 months, so that doesn’t make winning 3 games in a row amazing.

@KevinNagleMLS: It doesn’t take a rocket science to track the trends of people and what they write. As I said I am interested other than playing top flight football, what else can you share to improve the overall asset?

@jimothy_jaeger: Maybe as owner, you should be saying something about performances, as they’ve not been good enough and yet again you’ve gone silent

@KevinNagleMLS: Frankly they have not been good enough for me. But I am supportive and believe in the Manager and the team! They all know we can do better. We have made lots of behind the scene changes. Some you can see. We’re not done yet.

@_Terrier_Jack: It’s a bit telling that you’ve not even tweeted that you’re happy about the win or whatever, but you’re popping back at random fans. Just looks very odd? I don’t think many football club owners reply snarkily to fans on social media after a win? It’s alien to these leagues.

@KevinNagleMLS: Sorry Jack. There are people that make a point of attacking our Club. Some personal attacks. I am not the same as those other owners-right or wrong. I am also not a potted plant and have invested a lot to make HT better across the board.

@04alex14: Plenty of small things mainly, such as music choice in buildup to a game. It changes constantly, currently it’s music that won’t resonate with any of the fans. I don’t know who makes these decisions but using a fan panel to approve small changes such as these would work well imo

@KevinNagleMLS: Thanks Alex. They are literally reading what you have said. Agree with you. We have tried different things but totally open to your specific ideas. We do have a fan experience group. Thank you.
