Huddersfield Town face fan backlash on social media this week over ‘significant 2025/26 season ticket price hike’.
The League One outfit have announced the renewal period for the 2025/26 season cards, with the move sparking discussions on financial sustainability versus fan engagement.
While understand and expected ticket prices to rise, they didn’t think it would be by this much, the move has since led to a notable anger and frustration from fans who feel the hike is excessive.
Critics argue that the price rise places an undue financial burden on long-term supporters, potentially making match attendance less affordable.

Following the closure of the renewals window, there will be a general sale period for new supporters to join the Club in Summer 2025.

Investment Both On and Off the Pitch
Club Chairman Kevin Nagle said:
“Towards the end of last season, we consulted with supporters on raising the price of Season Cards but held off due to the Club’s relegation.
“We have decided that now is the time when we need to take this important step for the Club, to ensure that the Club remains as competitive as possible both on and off the pitch, and in financial good health as per the new EFL financial governance framework. Your support is as always hugely appreciated, and I hope that you join us for an exciting 2025/26 season.”
Club CEO Jake Edwards added:
“As a Club we have ambitious goals both on and off the pitch. To be able to keep pace with our plans and to grow as a Club, we need to be able to generate additional commercial revenues whilst ensuring that we remain affordable for our supporters and keep investing in their matchday experience.
“Our new 2025/26 Season Card pricing levels demonstrate that we would still be one of the most competitive price points in both EFL League One and the Championship.”

As mentioned, Huddersfield face fan backlash over ‘significant 2025/26 season ticket price hike’…
@WillMoHTAFC: Sorry to say this @KevinNagleMLS but i think you’ve killed the club here. We all agreed they needed to go up but mine is £140 more which is not on when the football or our position hasnt improved. Myself and my dad have had tickets for the last 3.5 seasons but we wont renew.
@NewMillPaul: Sorry @KevinNagleMLS. I’ve supported you since your arrival and believe you had the best interests of #htafc at heart. But that’s quite clearly not how you’re coming across with the season tickets. You are banking on blind loyalty to support a failing business. Not a good look.
@LeeTheTerrier:
Season ticket: £389
Club shirt: x3: £180
Pie and drink x24: £173
£742 in total. That’s without petrol, time I miss at home with family, away days (2/3 a year), late Tuesday night where I’m knackered the next day… They’ve got it very wrong. #htafc
@Terrier_HTAFC: Town built on ripping off fans apparently
@madhar390: only 5 weeks to renew???? so we won’t know if we’re in league 1 or championship. this is awful
@lazenby_ni76400: @KevinNagleMLS you’ve probably just emptied the ground by half, everyone expected a rise but not to that extent,Zoned pricing is a no for me anyway but £170 rise is crazy, good luck (I’d probably set a feedback thing up)..
@JulieAnnMulvey: @KevinNagleMLS Asking me to find 78% extra for my season ticket – and in just a month – to keep the seat I’ve had for almost 20 years is outrageous. You need to think again; pissing off loyal fans never ends well. #HTAFC
@OWB23: @KevinNagleMLS it’s simple, if we weren’t shit, town fans would pay these prices for potential higher division football like where the club planned to be, however the reality is we’ve been utterly awful to watch and the audacity to hike it up on the back of one 5-1 win 🤦🏻♂️#htafc
@NickJenkinson11: I make it a 50% increase wow,
@MallinsonNathan: Well have 5 weeks to see where the results go and decide what to do
@NickJenkinson11: Absolutely jokey. Say have to renew in 5 weeks. You have lost thousands of fans
@Parksy2410: 5 weeks wont make a difference be loads of available seats after them prices
@JJPPRINT: Last year I paid £883 now £1506. 70% increase. You’re having a laugh @KevinNagleMLS
@Truenorth125371:
Pay £400
For league 1 (probably)
Cartwright who’s dreadfulrecord of picking managers and some transfers is still there
Sunderland are £420 in the championship.
@garyhtfc: @htafc have been good to fans with cheap SCs over the years but raising the price in my case around 70% isn’t a good look. Can’t believe someone came up with this business model and thought it would be ok. Think the club may have scored an own goal here! #htafc
@bluewhitesapper: £419 to renew my seat which is in line with the corner flag! Which idiots have thought this up? This will kill one of the last sections of the ground that has some atmosphere left. And this is of the back of relegation and failed promotion campaign in a weak L1.
@EdwardThorpe: @KevinNagleMLS Sorry but you’ve badly, very badly misjudged things here with these increases. Huddersfield is not a particularly affluent area & with these prices any increase in revenue per ticket is going to be significantly offset from loss of renewals.
@CherryEyedEagle: Completely out of touch, if this is the way it’s going and the way he thinks is right, Nagle can put the club up for sale, cos nobody is buying this shite, especially still employing MC. Just a double up yours to fans. Sort it or sell up
@Huddites1908: Wow, didn’t think they would rise by this much in one jump. I’m not sure how that’s justifiable considering what we’ve had to watch for the past 3 years and the fact we could still be in League one. #htafc
@sazzlesfl: Up to £389 from £249. I was expecting an increase but a 56% increase is a bit steep in given climate. Over 30 years a season ticket holder but after the rubbish we’ve seen for past few seasons I’m gonna have to think twice about renewing #htafc – simply don’t enjoy it anymore
