Huddersfield Town can confirm that it has terminated the contract of Head Coach Mark Fotheringham with immediate effect.
His assistant, Kenny Miller, has also left the Club.
Narcís Pèlach will take control of the team for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at Wigan Athletic as Interim Head Coach.
Mark Fotheringham gave his views after his side twice concede leads to draw 2-2 against 10-man Blackpool:
“I felt that was unacceptable, the second half.
“I thought we met the challenge head-on against a direct team, and showed we were up for the fight. However, we just feel angry as a group in there, as there’s no way we should be coming away from this stadium with less than three points.
“Blackpool worked really hard to get themselves back in the game, but there’s just real anger and frustration with each other because we knew this was a night where we had to take three points – and we didn’t.
“It’s an absolute killer and we’re all devastated, but we’ve not got the time to dwell on it as the next game comes fast against Wigan at the weekend and the chance to change it.
“However, for the moment, we’ve got every right to be angry with each other because that was an unacceptable performance in the second half. We’ve let Blackpool off the hook after scoring a fantastic goal. It’s really frustrating.”
The team has been unable to hold onto leads in recent weeks – something that they have to address immediately.
Mark continued: “If I knew the answer, it would make this job really easy. That’s the important thing at the moment – finding a balance and a solution.
“I thought our subs made a real impact and we created chances, but we just couldn’t find a way to kill the game off. Then the manner that Blackpool came back into it was the really disappointing factor.
“If the players weren’t angry with each other in there, then you would really question their desire. There was real anger in there – you would expect that – and now there has to be a reaction at the weekend.”
Fotheringham concluded: “Every game between now and the end of the season is massive for the club. We know what the remit is – we have to stay up after a dreadful season so far. We have to change it, and we have time to do that – starting on Saturday against Wigan.”
Chris Wilder is the top contender and favourite for the job, with the current hierarchy at the John Smith’s Stadium hoping to talk to the 55-year-old following Mark Fotheringham’s departure, according to Alan Nixon on Patreon.
Wilder was snubbed by Wigan Athletic with Kolo Toure picked instead for that job instead, and what a disaster that was, whilst Wilder was recently linked to the vacancy at Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen, but he ain’t interested.
Huddersfield now want to talk to the ex-Sheffield United man to see if he can save their season and to see if he would be interest on being handed the reins at the club.

This is what fans said as Huddersfield already reveal they are keen on appointing 55 year old Chris Wilder after sacking their second manager of the season…
@ScissettTerrier: At last! Ridiculous appointment from the off!
@Allens1908: His departing quote. “On another day I would have kept my job”
@duncanfo: Huge relief. Bromby must follow.
@JoshWithOneNut: Not saying chicho will deliver what Carlos did but he came in and was an underrated part of that coaching team, had the opportunity to go with Carlos but stayed… he’s definitely easier to get behind! Just can’t put all to him if he starts well and can’t go for him if it’s bad
@richardfurnival: Shame that, on another day he could have been peak-Guardiola
@SebHTFC: CHICHO’S BARMY ARMY
@IrelandTerriers: Don’t like to see anyone lose their job, but he was clearly the wrong guy at the wrong time. Best for all concerned to part ways while we still have a chance of survival. Would be daft to think this solves all the clubs problems though #htafc
@stevemandanda17: Possibly one of the greatest managers to live. Heard he’s off to Bayern because he’s like a god in Germany
@craigsaddy: It’s almost as if getting in managers purely because they’re cheap doesn’t work when you have to pay up two fellas in same season. Maybe just maybe – we should have paid enough for a proper manager 🤷♂️
@terrier1000: Need an experienced manager this time, not another unknown manager
@markykilroy: He was out of his depth. Now we need someone experienced and willing to see this as a long term job. With a potential league 1 drop to deal with. That won’t come cheap.
@HTAFCYork: Thank fook for that!! – Look forward to Lee Bromby explaining that one
@gazwills1981: About time! Truly awful appointment! Look at West Brom now flying! Oh I wonder why!
@Z_W_95: Finally listening. Wasn’t a bad bloke just not cut out for this level
@HTAFC_Max: Should never have been appointed, nothing from Baldwin, Bromby or Hoyle? Cowards
@djibbotson: Nice to see the board engaging with the fans with that statement. 🙄
@Mirf_Chris: Excellent – Dean should try to persuade Warnock to come till the end of the season
@mariehtfc: About time, but someone take responsibility for a ridiculous appointment to start with!
@arrontyndall: Leigh Bromby should not be anywhere near the next recruitment process #htafc
@ewcs0: Now get rid of Bromby. How many chances has he had
