Horndean manager goes viral again slamming his players in brutally honest post match interview

Horndean manager Michael Birmingham goes viral again as slams his players in a brutally honest post match interview on Saturday afternoon.

His side felt to a 4-0 defeat again Raynes Park Vale, leaving Horndean 13th in the Isthmian League – South Central Division with 11 points from 9 games played.

Interviewer: Birms. A disappointing defeat today. Could you give your assessment on the game, please?

Michael Birmingham: Yeah, I Just don’t hope our players have got plenty of Sudocrem at home because they’ve had their arses slapped to them today.

“Fair play to Raynes Park. They were the better side by mile. Best side we’ve played this season. Ruthless. I thought the centre forward, 20 up top, was absolutely magnificent. I wish I had one of him at the moment. I’ve got four token gestures as a centre forward, so not even four put together can resemble anything to do with him.

“But the only positive come out of that they got, I had a cracking pasty before the game. That was about it.”

Interviewer: “There’s four defeats in a row in all competitions. It’s got to turn around quickly. But what specifically have we got to do better?”

Manager: “Not when you concede 13 goals in four games, it’s not Jack. We conceded three goals in three games and then today four.

“And to be honest, it should have been more today. So to me its the basics. They wanted it, the second ball, what they showed and when they were free, falling it up, the desire, the press, they still went and hunted because they got standards.

“Not my lot. They ain’t got no standards. They don’t give a shit. They just turn up and think, here we go. We go through the motions today. They got found out and you know what? Hope they can’t sit down for a week and I hope they run out of Sudocrem.”

This isn’t the first time he’s got everyone’s attention, unleashing a damning post-match rant after defeat to Phoenix Sports 11 months ago.

It would seem the boss has took some tips from Dorking’s very own Marc White in calling out bad performances from his players.

The reaction became so big that Horndean subsequently decided to turn their comments off so no one could have their say.

Following that game, in which they lost 1-0, Horndean sat 16th in the Isthmian League – South East Division with 8 points from 10 games, while Phoenix Sports were 18th, a place above the drop zone with the same points but played a game more.

Interviewer: So Birms [Michael Birmingham] frustrating afternoon. Give us your thoughts on that display.

Manager: That weren’t frustrating. We were crap first half. Pathetic bunch of losers. Didn’t want to work hard, didn’t want to get in a physical fight. Scared. Thought they could turn up after having a good performance against Sheppey and a good result against Ramsgate on a pitch that was lively, very heavy, and they didn’t want to do the hard work. And they got outmuscled. Outworked. And to be honest, we were crap first half and got what we deserved.

Interviewer: You think it was more positive display in the second half?

Manager: No, not really. Just huff and puff. Nothing really positive about it. My centre forwards could still be out there till training on Tuesday. Won’t hit the target. We created enough opportunities to win two games. But to be honest, fair play to Phoenix, because the first half, they were better and that’s where the damage done. We were crap.

Here’s how Twitter users reacted as Horndean manager goes viral again slamming his players in a brutally honest post match interview…

@Jonesyboyblue: Wish the premier league managers were this honest.🤣

@LukeSnellings: Sudocreme gonna run out of stock after this

@Leeso25: Forget the comical interviews, what a player this man was. Should have played in the league

@Rhunt92: What kind of pasty was it ? That’s the important take from this

@TonyPartridge17: How refreshing to hear a manager tell the truth about his team’s poor performance. 👍

@harryeufc: Best post match interview I’ve ever seen 😭😭😭😭

@GaryYoung04: Brilliant Birmy 👏👏👏👏 Now get back and manage @rocks1883 xx

@ItsEggActually: 😂 not surprised by this at all. We played them in the FA Trophy a couple of weeks back and have to say Michael was one of the most brutally honest managers I’ve met. Great bloke and @Horndean_FC are a lovely club…. even if they did beat us!

@0121dillon: No beating around the bush just straight up fuck off honesty, love it. They don’t deserve him man 🤣

@ChrisPe13881283: At least he enjoyed his pastie 🤣🤣🤣

@MarcNurse1: Ain’t you the manager? Concede, 13 goals. That’s your job to tighten them up and make your team hard to beat. I would also put the blame on yourself.

@JspPike: Strong comments, but boils down to motivation and coaching from the management. All players struggle to understand their tasks at times. Positive feedback will gain more respect

@HeavensAbove5: Sounds like a manager under pressure to me.

@OwenHalyy: Evening Horndean FC Twitter admin. If you could let Michael know that if he is looking for a centre forward who will take up 4 shirts combined, I am available for Saturday home games. Thankyou.

@Bunney_91: When you “Add comment” in your #FM24 press conference

@NathanAsh66: The beautiful game

@AdamDrakulic: Nothing wrong with this at all.

@Billo20Four7: Sounds like Raynes Park Vale is worth a visit for the pasty alone…

@Cockers11: He’s been waiting to deliver that sudo cream joke for a while hasn’t he? 😂

@EdegbeMichael: This is the best thing I’ve ever heard 😂😂😂😂

@WillB_2003:
✅ Opening line
✅ Praising their striker whilst bemoaning his
✅ Food review
This is non-league heritage

@TylerChambers_: Be honest- more people appreciate it 👏🏼

@StanFlaherty: Non league is a crazy place man 🤣🤣🤣🤣 gotta respect the honesty

@LewisCherries: As soon as you see “honest assessment” in the statement, you know it’s gonna be a banger 😂😂😂
