Hereford send condolences after 13 year old talented footballer dies in beach tragedy

Hereford send their condolences after a 13 year old talented footballer sadly dies in the Skegness Beach tragedy at the weekend.

Kacper Biela was on holiday with his family when the tragedy happened on Saturday the 13th of August, with emergency services receiving a report that a child under 16 was in the sea at around 6:15pm.

Following an extensive search from the police, coastguard and lifeboat crews, the boy’s body was recovered at around 11:30pm.

Tributes from those that knew Kacper have now come in, describing him as a ‘lovely boy’ who was a ‘credit to his family’ with his school, Kingstone Academy Trust, and his local football team, Hereford Pegasus FC, have paid their tributes.

The non league community have also sent their condolences while also sharing a donation page.

Kingstone Academy Trust said in a statement: “It is with deep sadness that a member of our school community has been tragically lost whilst on a family holiday in Skegness. Kacper was due to enter Year 9 in September and was a popular member of his year group with great sporting ability.

“He had a passion for football, representing both the school and Pegasus FC. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts are with Kacper’s family and friends and we ask that they are left in peace at this terribly sad time.”

Kevin Bishop, chairman of Hereford Pegasus FC, said: “The club has been informed of the devastating news that Kacper Biela died in a tragic swimming accident in Skegness at the weekend. Kacper was a member of the victorious u14 team who won the league and cup double last season.

“Despite playing up a year, he was an exceptional player for the team and had recently been selected for the Hereford Football Academy. Kacper joined the club at the tender age of five and quickly developed into an excellent player dominating games from midfield. Kacper was a lovely boy on and off the pitch, and a credit to his family and club.

“All at the club are devastated by the news and ask that the family, management and his team mates are given the time and space at this most difficult time.

“The club will be holding a minutes silence and collection for Kacper at the FA Vase game on Saturday 27th August 2022 where all are welcome.”

Justyna Lebiest, a family friend, set up a PayPal fundraiser for Kacper’s family with the appeal saying that all donations will be sent to his mother and will be used for his funeral which will take place in Poland.

Hereford FC and The Herefordshire FA is saddened to hear that Kacper Biela, a young footballer for Hereford Pegasus, who had recently joined the HFA Hereford FC BDC has unfortunately passed away over the weekend.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends and everyone affected. Should anyone affected by this require any further support, please do not hesitate to contact us via safeguarding@HerefordshireFA.com.

A fundraising page has been set up to help the family fly Kacper to Poland, anyone wishing to donate can access the page HERE.

Kacper represented Hereford FC while at Riverside Primary school in the National League Trust school U11’s finals at Bath City.

There will be a minute silence on Saturday ahead of our match against Buxton. Plus three of Kacper friends will be doing a bucket collection on Saturday to raise funds for the family for funeral costs.
