Harry Pell posts classy statement on having to retire aged 34, over a month after joining Bath

Harry Pell posts a classy statement on having to retire from playing, aged 34, over a month after joining Bath City.

The experienced midfielder had medical consultations, with his body telling him “enough is enough” after a long career.

He reflected on his reaching 500 professional appearances, and how it helped shaped his life, while also thanked clubs, teammates, coaches, supporters, and his family.

PELL’S STATEMENT:

After a great deal of thought, and my body telling me enough is enough, I’ve decided that the time is right for me to retire from professional football.

Football has been my life, shaping who I am both on and off the pitch. I’m incredibly grateful for every opportunity I’ve had, every club I’ve represented, and every teammate, coach, and staff member who’s supported me along the way.

My thanks go to the supporters across the country whose backing never went unnoticed, and to the fans who made it very tough at times, as those moments were part of the player I was, and a main reason why I loved the game so much.

I’m proud to have reached the milestone of 500 professional appearances during my career, an achievement I could only ever dream of as a young pup.

I want to thank my family and friends for their constant backing throughout my journey. Their support behind the scenes has been priceless and has helped me through both the highs and the challenges of professional football.

While this chapter comes to a close, my love for the game will always remain. I’m excited for what the future holds and look forward to taking on new challenges away from the pitch.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of my journey.

Pelle

@Dons_Sayer_WDON: A character, a personality, would always try to find a way to help the team win a game (that didn’t necessarily go down well with the opposition!) There are things I wish I hadn’t seen at training H, but most of all – will ALWAYS remember that time you asked “are you alright?” 🙏🏻

@Placebob2: Bye Pellend thanks for the laugh when you got sent at Blundell Park in your last ever league game, something we’ll always remember you for

@alexafcw9696: Always be welcome at plough lane, legend.

@sammymacuk: The 6 guys who follow MK away breathe a sigh of relief that they are now safe from Pell’s pre match “free kick practice” haha

@Ben_H2101: Captain’s performance when we needed it most against the Non League mob in South Essex, thank you for that and plenty of other great memories in your time with still the only EFL club in Essex 😁

@Mlabus5: All the very best for your new chapter and journey ahead. As part of the #CTFC National League title winning team you have given fond memories to others and myself during that historic period of the club. The right decision is usually the hardest decision. Good luck. 👏👍
